About the job

Requirements
  • Four to eight years of UX research experience in consumer products, marketplaces, classifieds, e-commerce, or high-traffic digital platforms, with active integration of generative artificial intelligence tools into daily research workflows.
  • Expertise in interviews, usability testing, and synthesis, including selecting suitable methods for decisions and delivering decision-ready recommendations.
  • Ability to independently scope, recruit, moderate, synthesize, and drive outcomes with minimal oversight.
  • Track record of landing insights with Product, Design, and Business stakeholders, handling pushback, and shaping product decisions, with examples of research changing scope or prioritization.
  • Ability to present concise insights that inform trade-offs, success criteria, and next steps.
  • Comfort working in fast-moving teams where research must be practical, timely, and tied directly to product outcomes.
Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end research for priority journeys by prioritizing research topics and planning and executing interviews, usability tests, concept and prototype validation, and journey mapping to uncover friction points, unmet needs, and opportunities across buyer and seller flows.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Designers early to validate problem statements, test hypotheses, and clarify success criteria before engineering investment.
  • Synthesize findings into actionable recommendations that shape prioritization, scope, and design decisions, and communicate trade-offs and implications to teams.
  • Establish lightweight, repeatable usability testing on critical search, listing, posting, lead, and chat flows across mobile apps and web.
  • Create journey maps, pain-point libraries, and insight summaries for teams to reference and reduce repeated research.
  • Work with Product Analytics to triangulate user feedback with behavioral data and support go/no-go and iteration decisions after testing and launch.
  • Ensure participant quality, unbiased moderation, and clear research documentation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with two-sided marketplaces involving buyers and sellers, trust and safety, fraud or content quality journeys, or monetization flows.

Carousell hits EBITDA profit as secondhand sales jump 40% to $141M revenue

Singapore-based classifieds platform Carousell Group achieved positive full-year EBITDA in 2025, driven by strong recommerce performance. Revenue grew 18% year-on-year to $141 million, whilst losses before tax narrowed by 75% from $32.3 million in 2024. The recommerce business, covering consignments, authenticated goods, and secondhand sales, now represents 45% of total revenue, growing over 40% annually. Gross merchandise value increased more than 20% across luxury, mobile phones, and fashion categories. Carousell expanded to 29 physical stores across Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Indonesia by end-2025. Operating through subsidiaries Refash and LuxLexicon, these locations serve as trade-in and assessment centres. Chief strategy officer Shing Tai Leung says the company will focus on AI and recommerce as growth pillars going forward.

The outlet offers a comprehensive suite of services including instant cash payouts via PayNow, on-site repairs, and warranty-backed devices that undergo a 40-point inspection. Customers can secure devices online at sg.carousellmobile.com with seven-day returns available.
