Requirements
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association or proof of alternative coverage.
Responsibilities
  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care and secondary and tertiary level health care.
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
  • Provide anesthesia at Valley Regional Hospital for general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, ear, nose and throat, and some healthy, low-risk pediatric cases.
  • Participate in the preoperative assessment clinic and acute pain service.
  • Participate fully in overnight and weekend on-call coverage.
  • Participate in medical student and resident education.
  • Provide intensive care unit coverage when interested.
  • Provide support to the Western Zone, including daytime coverage and occasional overnight or weekend coverage.
  • Be responsible to the Zone Anesthesia Department Head for professional responsibilities and quality of practice.
  • Operate within the bylaws, rules, and regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
