Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) program and provide documentation of a formal CT program, or hold a high school diploma or GED with CT certification.
  • Knowledge of radiology information systems (RIS).
  • Knowledge of picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
  • IV certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40–50 pounds, including pushing patients on beds or stretchers and performing lateral transfers of up to 50 pounds of the patient's weight.
  • Frequent to continuous standing and walking; patient transport may require walking 8–10 miles per shift.
  • Ability to perform role-specific physical activities, including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
Responsibilities
  • Perform computerized tomography examinations on patients according to established protocols and procedures under a radiologist's supervision.
  • Produce quality diagnostic images by operating CT scanners according to departmental procedures.
  • Position and prepare patients for scanning, and adjust patient position or medical dosages as indicated by anatomical circumstances and other technical factors.
  • Follow proper filming procedures and critique films for accuracy and clarity for physician interpretation.
  • Implement radiation safety guidelines and provide appropriate radiation protection during imaging.
  • Create exam records using CDs, films, and data transfer to PACS; complete exams in the Radiology Information System; and perform quality control on exams in PACS to maintain system and billing accuracy.
  • Maintain CT scanning equipment by performing scheduled cleaning and testing, documenting results, and notifying supervision of equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality assurance or quality control duties.
  • Maintain continuing education required for licenses and the position.
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistently with Jefferson's values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
