About the job
- A high school diploma is required.
- One year of experience working in a medical practice or health insurance organization is required.
- Candidates must interact professionally and positively with patients, colleagues, managers, and the executive team.
- Candidates must demonstrate maturity, integrity, loyalty, creativity, and strict confidentiality with HIPAA compliance in daily tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- The role requires the ability to solve practical problems involving concrete variables in situations with limited standardization and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
- Thorough knowledge of computer information systems is required.
- The role requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and talking or hearing; frequent lifting or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds are required.
- Greet patients and visitors promptly, courteously, and helpfully.
- Handle the patient check-in and checkout process effectively.
- Answer calls about appointment times, patient requests, and general inquiries within the scope of the position.
- Review patients’ charts for accuracy before upcoming appointments and ensure all required information is included for the physician.
- Perform scanning and sorting within the electronic medical record system.
- Verify and update patients’ current insurance information.
- Collect patient payments.
- Cross-train in all aspects of reception to provide sufficient coverage.
- Travel to other clinics as needed, primarily locally during the business day.
- Use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Prior use of electronic medical record systems is preferred.
