The DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation and Angel City Sports power possibility.

The DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation and Angel City Sports power possibility. In 2013, eight-year-old Ezra Frech and his dad Clayton traveled to Oklahoma City for the UCO Endeavor Games, an annual multi-sport competition for athletes with physical disabilities. While there, Ezra asked his dad why there weren't programs like the Endeavor Games in Southern California, and that's how Angel City Sports was born. What began with one young athlete asking "why" has grown into exactly the kind of lasting change The DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation's Sports Matter Impact League is built to champion. The Sports Matter Impact League, which launched in 2025, selects empowering sports-based youth development organizations for a three-year tiered grant program to fuel sustainable, high-impact work. In addition to funding, Sports Matter Impact League partners receive strategic guidance, visibility opportunities and access to resources that strengthen organizational capacity. "Long-term partnerships allow us to listen, learn and build alongside organizations to create stronger programs and meaningful change that lasts," said Rick Jordan, Vice President of The DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation. Going into 2027, Angel City Sports will enter year two of its Sports Matter Impact League partnership. Rooted in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience sport as a pathway to confidence, independence and belonging, Angel City Sports offers free, year-round adaptive sports programming for kids, adults and veterans with physical disabilities across the Los Angeles area. Since 2013, the organization has provided more than 31,000 athlete activations through annual clinics, multi-sport experiences and large-scale events. Beyond programming, Angel City Sports creates a community where athletes can see what is possible for themselves, often for the first time. "Angel City Sports taught me that I can do anything and that my wheelchair is never a limit," said 13-year old Angel City Sports athlete Damian Munoz. Angel City Sports also provides free access to specialized equipment that many athletes and families might not be able to afford on their own, something Angel City Sports Program Manager Alvin Malave says the organization can continue to do thanks to its partnership with The DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation. "I hope to teach the kids that anything is possible, and you can use sport as an opportunity to develop yourself mentally, physically and emotionally and go through life and be successful," Malave said.

DICK's Sporting Goods investors have until November 3 to seek lead plaintiff role after 30.68% share drop

Investors who bought DICK's Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS) securities between September 8, 2025 and August 24, 2026 have until November 3, 2026 to seek lead plaintiff status in a securities class action. Law firm Glancy Prongay Wolke & Rotter LLP is reminding shareholders of the deadline. The suit alleges DICK's misled investors about its Foot Locker business. It claims the company did not disclose that inventory clean-up was incomplete and that Foot Locker relied on legacy footwear vulnerable to heavy promotions. On August 25, 2026, DICK's reported second-quarter revenue of $1.73 billion from Foot Locker, below analysts' estimates of $1.81 billion. It cut its 2026 net sales guidance to $21.9 billion–$22.2 billion, from $22.1 billion–$22.4 billion. The stock fell $55.02, or 30.68%, to $124.31 that day.

Dick's Sporting Goods plans 55,000-square-foot store in Bastrop.

Dick's Sporting Goods plans 55,000-square-foot store in Bastrop. The retailer is slated to anchor the second phase of Burleson Crossing East. Published Date: October 6, 2026, 7:17 PM EDT Dick's Sporting Goods is planning a new 55,000-square-foot store in Bastrop's Burleson Crossing East shopping center, at Edward Burleson Lane. Construction is scheduled to begin December 2026, with completion targeted for December 2027, which points to an opening around early 2028. The project is a privately funded, ground-up build valued at about $11 million, covering both the building shell and the full interior buildout. A store of that size is a full-format Dick's, with room for the athletic apparel, footwear and equipment the chain sells across baseball, basketball, golf, fishing and fitness. The retailer's arrival was hinted at publicly in mid-September, when Bastrop City Manager Sylvia Carrillo-Trevino referred during the city's State of the City address to "a store that rhymes with Rick's that sells baseballs and those kinds of things." Community Impact reported the teaser while covering infrastructure extensions needed for the development's second phase. Burleson Crossing East spans nearly 20 acres and builds on the original Burleson Crossing, which opened in 2008. Its first phase, developed by Durhman & Bassett Realty Group, brought in Sprouts Farmers Market, PetSmart, Longhorn Steakhouse and First Watch. The two-phase development is projected to create more than 300 jobs and contribute about $1.4 million a year to Bastrop's general fund through property and sales taxes. The center sits within a larger wave of growth along SH 71, where roughly 500 acres of mixed-use development is planned over a three-mile stretch, including projects like Sendero and Bastrop West. Dick's, which has grown to more than 800 stores nationwide, would add a major sporting goods option for a city that has been drawing a steady stream of national retailers and restaurants.
