Requirements
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
  • Expertise building production-grade applications and services using Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
  • Extensive experience with PostgreSQL and SQL-based data modeling, including query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Deep understanding of web application security, observability, and scalable system architecture.
  • Ability to design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and well-documented APIs.
  • Experience building integrations with external systems, including REST or GraphQL APIs, webhooks, event-driven pipelines, or third-party vendor connections.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one payment processor or card issuer, such as Stripe, Lithic, Adyen, Marqeta, Braintree, or an equivalent fintech vendor.
  • Working familiarity with double-entry ledger design, idempotency or exactly-once webhook and money-movement patterns, ACH, wire, card-network basics, or reconciliation against vendor reports.
  • Familiarity with AWS and other cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, and continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants as part of the development workflow, with the ability to provide appropriate context, critique output, recognize failure modes, and decide when to override it.
  • Ability to design and build software incrementally without requiring a complete specification.
  • Ability to write tests as an integral part of the development process.
  • Ability to approach assignments with a security lens, including identifying vulnerabilities and protecting personally identifiable information and payment-card-industry-adjacent paths.
Responsibilities
  • Independently design and implement complex, multi-part features from requirements through production.
  • Own subsystems, services, or critical components in the payments stack, such as the internal financial ledger, virtual-card issuance and authorization lifecycle, bank connections, or invoicing and auto-debit pipeline.
  • Write clean, maintainable, production-ready code with consistent test coverage.
  • Navigate existing codebases, identify sound patterns, recognize technical debt, and apply judgment regarding correctness, security, and system direction when using AI tooling.
  • Debug production issues by investigating evidence and identifying root causes, especially in webhook, retry, and reconciliation paths.
  • Participate actively in design reviews and influence team-level architecture decisions.
  • Propose technical designs that account for scalability, performance, reliability, idempotency, exactly-once semantics, reconciliation, and separation between authorization and capture.
  • Identify risks, edge cases, data consistency concerns, and failure modes during planning, including double-charge, double-credit, dropped-webhook, and out-of-order-event scenarios.
  • Scope and estimate work, break down epics into deliverable and independently reviewable units, and ensure dependencies are understood.
  • Deliver features end-to-end, including rollout coordination, feature flagging, dark launching, reconciliation, post-release monitoring, and dashboard review.
  • Communicate risks and blockers early.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and direct feedback.
  • Provide substantive code reviews and teach others effective review practices.
  • Teach best practices and improve the quality of surrounding code.
  • Drive improvements in testing patterns, observability for money-movement flows, code organization, and test-coverage standards.
  • Champion quality and standards and push back on shortcuts that create long-term cost.
  • Explain technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Represent engineering in product and cross-functional discussions with Finance, Operations, and Credit regarding reconciliation, credit risk, and dispute handling.
  • Translate vendor documentation from Stripe, Lithic, and other vendors into scoped engineering work.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools, including Claude or GitHub Copilot.
  • Curiosity about AI-driven solutions and the ability to evaluate where they add value.

Order.co provides a digital platform that centralizes and streamlines procurement for enterprises, helping organizations manage purchasing across the full procurement lifecycle. The product integrates requests, approvals, supplier catalogs, purchase orders, spend tracking, and reporting, typically syncing with ERP or finance systems so users route approvals, order goods or services, receive invoices, and analyze spend in one place. It differentiates itself by offering end-to-end control and visibility in a single system for requisitions, supplier management, and analytics, which enforces company policies and reduces shadow procurement. Goal: help enterprises save time, cut unnecessary spend, and improve transparency and governance over purchasing processes.

Aligning Finance And Procurement – Phase 4: Leveraging Technology To Bridge The Finance–Procurement Gap

Finance and procurement play critical roles in shaping an organization’s financial health and operational efficiency. This series shapes a five-phase approach to aligning finance and procurement.Using technology to bridge the Finance-Procurement gapOnce a well-defined technology adoption strategy is established in the ‘collaboration’ phase, organizations can move to the next step: leveraging technology to bridge the finance-procurement gap.Technology is a powerful enabler of finance-procurement collaboration, bridging gaps in spend visibility, cost control and data integration. Without the right tools, procurement’s contributions to financial strategy can remain disconnected from budgeting, forecasting and risk management.By leveraging automation, AI-driven analytics and integrated source-to-pay (S2P) solutions, organizations can streamline workflows, improve financial accuracy and enhance procurement’s role in decision making. The following sections explore how technology enables better finance-procurement integration, the key considerations for selecting the right solutions and how digital transformation drives efficiency, compliance and long-term financial impact. The importance of integrating procurement and finance systemsA major challenge for organizations is siloed procurement and financial systems which separately manage critical processes, such as spend tracking, budget planning and supplier risk assessment. Without integration, finance teams struggle to track procurement-driven savings, while procurement lacks visibility into financial planning and liquidity management. To resolve this, companies need to do the following:1. Ensure procurement data is linked to financial dashboards
