Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Knowledge of cultural awareness, including understanding people from diverse backgrounds and conveying respect to connect effectively.
  • Knowledge of health information documentation, including the relevance of health information and appropriate methods for recording medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and medical results in written or electronic form.
  • Knowledge of patient safety risks in healthcare settings and the ability to take steps to reduce those risks.
  • Knowledge of life support processes for restoring and maintaining essential physiological functions and the ability to apply them in patient-care situations.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, including the ability to process information accurately.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40–50 pounds, including pushing or pulling patients on beds or stretchers and performing lateral transfers involving up to 50 pounds of the patient's weight.
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently to continuously; patient transport may involve walking 8–10 miles per shift.
  • Ability to perform role-specific physical activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR.
Responsibilities
  • Provide continuous surveillance of telemetry patients while following proper telemetry-monitoring procedures.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for documenting and reporting patient information.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide quality patient care and a safe environment.
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in a manner consistent with Jefferson's values.
  • Recognize patients and their families or designated care partners and provide safe, compassionate, coordinated care that respects personal preferences, priorities, needs, cultural beliefs, and values.
  • Minimize risks of harm to patients and others by following established nursing practices, protocols, and individual performance expectations.
  • Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision-making.
  • Continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry, accurately interpret baseline variations, and communicate them to the Registered Nurse.
  • Collect data and document interpreted rhythms and significant events during the shift, and complete required reporting.
  • Maintain equipment and assist with its application and return; troubleshoot equipment and escalate issues according to established procedures.
