Wireless pioneer says cell towers acting as radar could one day make mobile internet free

Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile could one day make mobile internet free, wireless pioneer Ray Dolan told Benzinga. He believes cellphone towers could earn money by detecting drones, tracking vehicles and monitoring their surroundings. Dolan, chief executive officer of privately held Cohere Technologies, said governments and businesses could pay for that data. The revenue could eventually exceed what operators earn from connectivity, letting them stop charging for access. "Connectivity itself can become the enabler whose cost is subsidized or given away," he said. Cohere is developing technology that lets towers work like radar. In July, AT&T and Ericsson showed that existing 5G infrastructure could detect and track drones. The task is large: T-Mobile alone reported $19.4 billion in third-quarter service revenue. Dolan gave no timetable, and said privacy concerns "must be addressed carefully.

T-Mobile stock is down 31.6% in 12 months as rising phone subsidies and churn loom

T-Mobile US raised parts of its 2026 outlook on October 28, but its stock has fallen 31.6% over the past twelve months, while the S&P 500 returned 13.3%. Much of the drop came in October, on SpaceX's push to become a US mobile carrier. Management warned that phone subsidies keep rising as handsets cost more. It expects a less predictable fourth quarter, with higher device prices, a staggered iPhone launch, and more customer churn. Postpaid account churn rose to 1.09% in the third quarter from 0.97% a year earlier. Even so, the company expects about $76.8 billion of service revenue in 2026, up 8% from 2025.

T-Mobile CEO sees "no room" for SpaceX MVNO deal as SpaceX eyes 80,000 cell sites

T-Mobile chief executive Srini Gopalan said he sees "no room" for a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) deal with SpaceX, on the company's third-quarter earnings call on October 28, 2026. Verizon's chief executive has taken the same stance. The refusal comes as SpaceX agreed to buy nationwide 800 MHz spectrum and was reported to be in talks to access about 80,000 US cell sites. Without wholesale access, SpaceX must own spectrum and rent towers, a costlier path. The spectrum deal needs Federal Communications Commission approval and is expected to close in the first half of 2027. Gopalan said he would consider a resale deal for a complementary product. T-Mobile earned $3.22 a share on $23.58 billion of revenue, and raised its free cash flow guidance to $18.7 billion to $18.8 billion.

Xbox Game Pass becomes a T-Mobile T-Mix perk in the US this November.

Xbox Game Pass becomes a T-Mobile T-Mix perk in the US this November. Starting in November, eligible T-Mobile subscribers stateside can select Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass Premium as a benefit of their wireless plan. Xbox confirmed the move on October 26, 2026, the day T-Mobile unveiled its new T-Mix program. Game Pass has never before been part of a U.S. wireless plan, according to Xbox. Either tier opens up a ready-made library on hardware players already own, from Xbox consoles and smart TVs to PCs and other devices. Per Xbox, the goal is giving "more players another way to jump in and play." T-Mobile introduced T-Mix as a trio of plans called Standard, More and Loaded, all due in November. Each plan comes with Picks, which subscribers put toward perks ranging from sports and AI tools to food delivery, music, gaming and streaming, plus network features and device deals. Allan Samson, T-Mobile's chief marketing officer, said the carrier is moving away from one-size-fits-all plans, and that T-Mix "flips that model." Pricing starts at $55 per month for a single line on Standard, which includes one Pick. More begins at $75 with two Picks, while Loaded starts at $95 with three, all with AutoPay and before taxes and fees. Alongside Game Pass, the Pick menu includes Apple TV, Netflix, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited, Google Gemini and YouTube Premium. Anyone who would rather spend a Pick elsewhere can do so. Picks can be reshuffled at set points during the year, through three change windows and an annual remix, without altering the monthly plan. Leftover Picks expire when the quarter ends, and changing a partner benefit outside a window may cost a fee. Current Game Pass payers should check the fine print before switching, since T-Mobile notes that overlapping subscriptions may need managing to prevent double billing. Eligibility details and steps for choosing Game Pass sit in T-Mobile's announcement. Telecom tie-ins are not new to Game Pass elsewhere, since EE in the UK has paired Game Pass Ultimate with its mobile offers before. The post sits under Xbox's "Return of XBOX" heading, shared with XBOX FanFest Seattle on November 12 and an IKEA collection named YXSTABY.

T-Mobile stock down 31.8% in a year: will support hold after past 50% rebounds?

T-Mobile US stock has fallen 31.8% over the past year, dividends included, while the S&P 500 gained 15.3%. The shares are back at levels where they bounced in late 2023 and early 2024. After four earlier starting points between November 2023 and April 2024, the stock rose more than 50% within about a year each time. The median best gain was 56.7%. Revenue grew 9.7% in the twelve months to June 2026, against 0.7% in the period to June 2024. The operating margin was 20.1%, close to 19.9% two years ago. Management expects slower growth in the third quarter, guiding to about 250,000 postpaid net account additions, down from 277,000 in the second. Support counts as broken if the stock closes more than 5% below today's price.
