Inside California Closets' new Gilbert showroom and its whole-home design vision. At the new California Closets (californiaclosets.com) outpost in Gilbert, head of design Francesca Harris explores how organization can shape a more personal, whole-home design experience. May 29, 2026 Congrats on the new location! Can you describe the new showroom? We're very excited about our new Gilbert location - it's a full expression of the California Closets whole-home design experience. We often lead with a beautiful closet, but that's just the beginning. As you move through the showroom, you're immersed in a series of connected rooms that help you imagine how what you see here could translate into your own home. The layout is intentional; what we show, and what we leave out. Space is used carefully to reduce visual noise, so each moment feels considered, purposeful and easy to absorb. What finishes and styles have been popular lately? We're seeing customers increasingly view their homes as a canvas for self-expression, much like fashion. Our focus is on building a complete palette to support this - an essential set of finishes and materials customers and designers can rely on to create cohesive color stories across every room of the home, from a beautiful library or media room to a functional pantry, laundry, indulgent closet or clever small space. People are looking for connection, reassurance and a sense of being understood. They want to feel confident in their choices, whether that's a brand, a material or a single color. Anything new to speak of? We recently introduced Desert Agave, and it's a great example of what happens when the right finish becomes part of a larger design language. It's a soft, livable mid-tone green that meets customers exactly where they are - approachable, flexible and grounded. Paired with our Luxe Matte classics, it creates compositions that feel balanced and timeless, never trend-driven. We didn't introduce Desert Agave as a single finish - we built a system around it. That includes our new coordinated Linear doors and panels, back-painted glass and felt elements that bring depth, texture and dimension. Together, they give designers and clients a clear starting point, with room to make the design entirely their own. For people who need organization at home, what tips would you offer, especially for readers who feel overwhelmed? Start smaller than you think. Don't try to solve the whole house at once; begin with one room or one space that creates friction in your daily life. Focus on how you actually live, not how you think it should look. What do you reach for every day? What slows you down? Good organization isn't about adding more; it's about removing friction. Once one space works well, it creates clarity and momentum for the next. How does the California Closets experience stand out? We connect inspiration to reality. Customers can imagine anything today - but imagination alone isn't enough. What we do is make those ideas real, precise and buildable. At its best, design is deeply personal. As homeowners seek spaces that reflect who they are, the real value lies in translating individual needs into solutions that are not only beautiful, but functional and tailored. Our showrooms are designed to help people see, touch and understand how a space will function in their lives. Combined with the expertise of our designers, it becomes a highly personal experience, one that feels considered, cohesive and truly individual. Filed under:
