Powerline provides AI-powered solutions that connect electric vehicles to the electricity grid and enable vehicle-to-grid (V2X) services. Its Battery Co-Pilot uses machine learning to benchmark fleet performance, monitor operations in real time, and optimize market strategies for battery fleets. It differentiates by focusing on AI-driven grid-enabled charging and V2X optimization for EV fleets, delivering integrated metrics, real-time visibility, and market-ready charging plans for cleantech markets. The goal is to help the grid absorb more renewable energy while delivering financial returns to fleet operators and advancing clean energy adoption.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Powerline closed a $7 million seed round on February 4, 2026.
  • Powerline is hiring in Melbourne on September 3, 2026, signaling Australia expansion.
  • DTECH Initiate coverage in August 2026 says utilities already trust Battery Co-Pilot.

What critics are saying

  • Powerline remains seed-stage after February 2026's $7 million round; scaling is unproven.
  • Incumbents like Fluence, Tesla, and Wärtsilä already own battery operations workflows.
  • If customer pilots stall, Powerline's grid-software niche collapses before revenue scales.

What makes Powerline unique

  • Battery Co-Pilot benchmarks entire battery portfolios continuously, not single assets.
  • Powerline combines market signals, bottom-up simulations, and digital twins for operations.
  • Battery Co-Pilot targets utility-scale batteries and V2X, spanning EVs and grid services.

Powerline raises $7M to optimise grid-scale battery operations with AI software

Powerline has raised $7 million in a seed round led by MaC Venture Capital to develop software for grid-scale battery operations. The startup is building an intelligence platform that converts market signals and portfolio data into actionable decisions for battery operators. Founded by Matineh Eybpoosh and Julian Lamy, who bring experience operating battery systems at scale, Powerline addresses the growing challenge of managing energy infrastructure as AI demands increase. The platform helps operators understand asset underperformance and test different strategies to improve outcomes in real time. Grid-scale batteries now operate within volatile markets and complex incentive structures, yet many operators lack modern software for performance analysis and adaptation. Powerline's technology aims to improve reliability and resilience across the energy system.
