Nissan Skyline GT-R Hakosuka gets Mattel Brick Shop scale replica.

Nissan Skyline GT-R Hakosuka gets Mattel Brick Shop scale replica. Hakosuka gets a customizable 1:16-scale replica, complete with racing accessories, metal parts, and a matching Hot Wheels die-cast 10/15/2026 JDM fans can now build one of Japan's most iconic performance cars, brick by brick, quite literally. Mattel Brick Shop has teamed up with Nissan for the first time to create a scale replica of the 1971 Nissan Skyline (KPGC10) 2000GT-R, better known among enthusiasts as the Hakosuka. Unveiled at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the 1:16-scale model consists of 833 interlocking pieces and recreates the legendary coupe in its classic white racing livery with red stripes. What makes the set appealing to both kids and adult enthusiasts is its attention to detail, from the flared wheel arches to the gauges on the instrument panel, along with extensive customization options that let builders recreate the Skyline as either a road-going car or a full-fledged racecar. What's more, builders can choose between steel wheels or the iconic eight-spoke RS Watanabe-style wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan Neova AD09 intermediate tires that adds a great deal of realism to the build. It also features functional steering, opening doors, and a hood that lifts to reveal a replica of the car's twin-cam engine with red valve covers. Beyond recreating a road-going version, the set also includes race-spec parts to transform the miniature into the iconic touring car, including a front chin spoiler, red headlight covers, and an external oil cooler inspired by the original race car. Rounding out the package is a decal sheet featuring period-correct 1970s racing graphics, allowing builders to recreate the Hakosuka's classic competition livery. Among the details is the PMC-S script, a reference to the Prince Motor Club, the official racing team and enthusiast organization of the Prince Motor Company and the red Skyline heart. What's more, Mattel sweetens the deal with a metal signature plate and an exclusive matching 1:64-scale Hot Wheels die-cast, giving collectors two versions of the iconic Nissan in one package. The new set expands Mattel Brick Shop's growing lineup of automotive collectibles, which includes models from brands such as Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet, and Mercedes-Benz. Following the introduction of Japanese icons such as the Honda Civic EF and S2000, the Hakosuka adds another enthusiast favorite to the mix. For JDM enthusiasts, this is more than just another toy building set. It is a chance to recreate the car that helped put the GT-R badge on the map, complete with the racing details that made the original a Japanese motorsport icon. The Mattel Brick Shop x Hot Wheels 1971 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R is scheduled to hit stores in January 2027.

1971 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R is now an 833-piece Mattel Brick Shop set that can be customized.

1971 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R is now an 833-piece Mattel Brick Shop set that can be customized. Toy maker Mattel announced the first-ever partnership with Nissan and the launch of a scale replica of the Skyline 2000GT-R. Published: 13 Oct 2026, 12:45 UTC - By: Photo: Mattel Slowly but surely, Mattel's newest side business, the so-called Brick Shop, continues to grow with the addition of new cars that can be built at scale, in as-accurate-as-possible form. After the two Hondas announced at the beginning of the year, the Civic EF and S2000, it's now time for another major Japanese nameplate to do the same. Taking advantage of the 2026 Paris Motor Show that opened its doors this week, the toy maker announced the launch of a replica of the 1971 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R, or, as it's known in some circles, the Hakosuka. Trying to stay as close as possible to the vehicle that's considered by many the reason why the GT-R grew to become the icon that it is today, Mattel worked on the project with its Hot Wheels brand to create a 1:16 scale replica. The miniature Nissan comes together after no less than 833 pieces of interlocking plastic bricks are properly put together and, when complete, appears decorated with the classic white racing livery with printed red stripes. There are some functional elements included in the design, including a functional steering wheel and an opening hood that lifts out of the way to reveal a replica of the Nissan's engine, a piece of hardware that comes with detailing, but no working parts. The very interesting thing about this design, the result of the first-ever collaboration between Mattel and Nissan, is that it has been created with customization in mind. More specifically, fans can choose to install a custom decal sheet, one of two wheel cover sets (one of them made in metal), and a bunch of extra parts, including a front splitter, headlight covers, and an intercooler. Officially titled the Mattel Brick Shop x Hot Wheels 1971 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R, the set will become available in stores in January 2027, and it will sell for $59.99 to anyone over the age of ten. For that, the toy maker also throws in a metal signature plate and an exclusive, matching, 1:64 scale Hot Wheels die-cast toy. Aside from the Nissan performance car announced today, Mattel already offers through the Brick Shop models from a large number of carmakers, including, in no particular order, Audi, Lamborghini, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Acura, Chevrolet, Honda, Cadillac, Aston Martin, and Toyota. As for what models can be had in this form, you can think about the likes of the Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar, Maserati MC20, 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, and 1990 Acura NSX. All of these vehicles, no matter the series they're part of, come as exact scale replicas of the real-world cars and trucks. Unlike competitor LEGO, which generally steers clear of using metal parts, Mattel's sets do include them wherever and whenever possible. Liked the article?
