Requirements
  • The candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in freight brokerage, carrier sales, or transportation operations, including hands-on carrier sourcing and rate negotiation.
  • The candidate must have working command of load boards such as DAT, Truckstop, or an equivalent platform, and a transportation management system.
  • The candidate must be comfortable pricing full truckload and less-than-truckload freight using lane analysis, market rates, fuel, and accessorials.
  • The candidate must be able to negotiate rates and cover difficult freight under time pressure.
  • The candidate must be familiar with carrier compliance basics, including insurance verification, operating authority, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration safety ratings.
  • The candidate must have solid Excel and data fluency.
Responsibilities
  • Source, recruit, and onboard full truckload and over-the-road carriers; build repeatable lane relationships and grow contracted capacity.
  • Cover marketplace and capacity needs by using DAT and load boards, sourcing competitive carrier pricing, negotiating daily market rates, and covering difficult freight efficiently.
  • Price full truckload and less-than-truckload opportunities using lane history, market conditions, fuel, and accessorials; return quotes to sales quickly and secure capacity.
  • Monitor lanes for margin erosion, flag underperformers, and bring repricing and carrier-utilization ideas to the Director of LTL and Truckload.
  • Maintain current carrier insurance, operating authority, safety ratings, and customer requirements; complete W-9, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and safety reviews, and system setup.
  • Coordinate with sales, dispatch, and customer service so bookings move through delivery smoothly, and resolve exceptions before they reach the customer.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience across full truckload, over-the-road, local, and less-than-truckload modes, including Power Only, Drop Trailer, or dedicated over-the-road freight.
  • Marketplace or dedicated shorthaul brokerage experience.

Cargomatic operates a logistics technology platform that connects shippers with local truckers in real time. It matches freight loads with available trucking capacity, focusing on drayage and nearby, short‑haul moves to enable on‑demand trucking services. The system works by signaling available loads to nearby carriers through the platform (and vice versa), letting shippers post freight and drivers accept jobs, all aiming to move shipments quickly and efficiently. Compared with competitors, Cargomatic emphasizes real‑time, local trucking connections and has grown through multiple funding rounds to scale its platform, supported by investors such as Warburg Pincus and Canaan Partners. Its goal is to make freight transportation more connected and efficient by expanding access to on‑demand local trucking solutions.
