  • Hiring preferences favor eligible communities: Goldbelt gives shareholders and Native community members priority for employment and training.
  • Cybersecurity certification expands contract eligibility: Goldbelt earned defense Level 2 certification in October 2026 for handling sensitive information.

What critics are saying

  • Some offers depend on contract awards: Goldbelt's recruiting FAQ says proposal-based jobs are not guaranteed before a contract win.

  • A federal contracting pathway faces pressure: Goldbelt's CEO cited threats to the 8(a) program in February 2026.

What makes Goldbelt unique

  • Ownership is rooted in one community: Goldbelt is Juneau's urban corporation under Alaska's Native land settlement.
  • Goldbelt connects cruise visitors with Mount Roberts: it operates Southeast Alaska's only aerial tramway above Juneau.
  • Former logging land has a different role: Goldbelt's Hobart Bay timber is protected through a carbon-credit program.
