About the Job

Requirements

  • You are highly technical and hands-on, comfortable writing Python and doing model and data iteration yourself, not just directing others.
  • You have delivered deployed, production machine learning models, ideally in robotics or autonomous vehicles, with experience shipping and iterating on machine learning for embodied AI applications.
  • Alternatively, you have productionised machine learning models at another company and have experience delivering incremental improvements to a live system over time.
  • Your experience is production focused rather than primarily research or early stage exploration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team iterating on L2 driving performance, balancing hands-on technical work with team leadership.
  • Diagnose the highest impact issues seen on the road, root cause them, and resolve them through data and model iteration.
  • Own changes to data recipes, model architecture, evaluation and release readiness for the driving model.
  • Partner with other teams to resolve cross-functional issues, including model and vehicle interface problems.
  • Act as one of the team's key hands-on developers, writing code and running experiments alongside directing the team's priorities.
  • Work on the end-to-end driving model that powers the L2 product and sits at the centre of the company's OEM partnerships.
  • Scale the driving model's performance across different geographies and vehicle platforms while hitting performance and compliance key performance indicators.
  • Use on-road and off-road evaluation to identify the biggest performance gaps and close them through data-led iteration cycles.
  • Resolve model and vehicle interface issues cross-functionally with specialists across the business.
  • Grow and shape a small, high-impact team, initially up to five people, as the driving model programme scales.

About the Company

Wayve

End-to-end autonomous-driving software for vehicles

Wayve provides end-to-end autonomous-driving software for automakers and fleets that runs entirely on onboard compute and sensors, without relying on HD maps or city-by-city engineering. The system uses foundation models capable of zero-shot driving and has demonstrated ability to drive across 500+ cities in Europe, North America, and Japan. Unlike traditional AV stacks that depend on mapped data and per-city customization, Wayve aims to generalize driving with its onboard AI across diverse environments. Its goal is to scale commercial robotaxi trials from 2026 and bring supervised autonomy to consumer vehicles from 2027, backed by substantial funding partnerships to support rapid deployment.
