Nike partners with French Albion for European distribution of Nike ACG. July 6, 2026 Nike, Inc. has appointed French Albion to distribute its recently relaunched ACG (All Conditions Gear) Outdoor Collection across key European outdoor markets. According to a LinkedIn post from Anthony Cazottes, president and CEO of French Albion, the agency will be "leading Outdoor Specialty business for ACG across France, UK, Benelux, Scandinavia, Poland, and Italy with the support of industry-leading agencies Landsea Agency, Wisdom and Effort, Blender Agency, Hike-A-Way BV and Box Agency." French Albion, based in southwestern France, also represents North American brands Saxx Underwear, Topo Designs, Katin, Sun Bum, and Business & Pleasure Co. Cazottes stated, "Representing ACG in Europe is much more than just a distribution agreement. It's a unique opportunity to support an outdoor icon. This brand embodies a vision of outdoor performance that resonates directly with the specialty retailers we already serve with our other brands. June 24, 2026 Analysts were mixed on Nike Inc.'s news that CFO Matt Friend will step down as the company's EVP and CFO and succeeded in August by Pfizer CFO David Denton. Some saw the hiring signaling a higher priority on margin expansion, but others saw risks in hiring an outsider and an omen of a further guidance cut. Several analysts also now believe Nike's Investor Day, set for this fall, will be postponed, which would also delay Nike sharing a deep dive into its financial projections for the years ahead. As reported, Nike announced after the market closed on Tuesday, June 23, that Friend, who has been the company's CFO for nearly six years and at Nike since 2009, will step down Nike's EVP and CFO on August 17, 2026, at which time Denton will join the company as its next CFO. Friend will remain with Nike through September 4 to ensure an orderly transition. Denton joins Nike from Pfizer, where he has served as EVP and CFO since March 2022. He was previously CFO of Lowe's from 2018 to 2022 and CVS Health from 2010 to 2018. On the transition, CEO Elliott Hill noted that this is a "natural moment for a leadership transition as we move from foundational actions to sustained growth through our Sport Offense operating model." Nike also indicated that results for the fiscal fourth quarter, ended May 28, to be reported on June 30, will now include a benefit from tariff refunds that were not contemplated in the company's previously provided guidance. Excluding this one-time benefit, the company said fourth quarter results are expected to be generally in line with previously provided guidance At Needham, Tom Nikic in a note wrote that Nike changing its CFO is "not surprising" given that Elliott Hill, who rejoined Nike as CEO in late 2024, may 'like to work with a CFO of his choosing." However, he was somewhat surprised when Nike looked outside the company to fill the lead financial role. Nikic said, "Historically, NKE's attempts to look outside the company for the CEO role have been problematic (e.g. the ill-fated John Donohoe era), though their track record with external CFOs has been better (e.g. Don Blair, who had a successful 16-year tenure as CFO from 1999-2015 after joining from PepsiCo). While Mr. Denton does have impressive credentials, we'd be remiss if we didn't point out that there's likely to be a "learning curve" for an executive joining the world's largest athleticwear brand without having any experience in the industry." Nikic noted that Friend has been "one of the longer-tenured CFOs in the industry" while adding that Nike's board "seems to have been impressed by Mr. Denton's experience as a public-company CFO, his experience managing complex businesses, and his 'operating rigor.'" At Stifel, Peter McGoldrick pointed to the potential benefit of Denton's approximately 30 years of experience and a track record in margin improvement and large-scale transformations. He added, "Notably, compensation includes a $4mn performance award tied explicitly to FY27 operating margin expansion, suggesting a strategic pivot toward profitability over revenue and EBIT dollar growth." He added, "This marks the third major leadership reshuffle under CEO Elliott Hill, reinforcing ongoing organizational change. We view the hire and incentive design as signaling heightened focus on cost discipline amid likely continued revenue pressure." Cristina Fernández, at Tesley Advisory Group (TAG) in a note said that although Nike characterized the CFO transition as planned, "it was a bit of a surprise to us as CFO Matt Friend seemed to have a good working relationship with CEO Elliott Hill." She added that Friend was also a "familiar" figure to the investor community, given his prior role as Nike's VP of investor relations from 2019 to 2020 in addition to other financial roles since joining the firm. Regardless, she pointed to the potential benefits Nike may gain from the experience of Denton, citing more than 15 years of experience as CFO of several large public companies, including the last four years at Pfizer, a complex global organization like Nike. Fernández added, "The timing of the CFO transition also seems to be tied to Nike looking to return to growth in 2027 and complete its 'Win Now' actions by the end of calendar 2026. The company had previously shared plans to host an investor day this Fall, at which time Nike planned to give FY27 annual guidance and new long-term financial targets. It is possible that the event is delayed with the CFO transition. Lastly, although Nike has a mixed track record with external senior leaders and its past two CFOs were promoted from within, it did hire an external CFO from Pepsi in 1999, Don Blair, who served in the role for 16 years." Paul Lejuez, at Citi Research, said in a note, "A CFO transition is not a big surprise given NKE's frequent need to reset sales/margin (lower) as they have faced challenges. The timing (ahead of 4Q26 earnings and upcoming Fall analyst day) is more of a surprise. We wonder if this might delay the timing of the analyst day to give Denton more time to onboard and be comfortable with longer-term projections/targets that may be provided." BNP Paribas Equity Research senior analyst Laurent Vasilescu said the CFO announcement was a surprise, considering 4Q26 earnings are scheduled for next week. He believes it may suggest that the calendar 2026 guide will likely be reduced further. Nike on March 31 lowered its guidance after delivering fiscal third-quarter results, causing its shares to slide. Vasilescu noted that if the initial calendar 2026 guidance is lowered, it would be Friend's fifth initial annual guidance to be reduced. He likewise felt the upcoming Investor Day may be postponed due to the hire. He noted that in 2024, Nike ultimately postponed and then cancelled an Investor Day scheduled for October after CEO John Donahoe stepped down that summer. Finally, Vasilescu questioned the hiring of an outsider. Vasilescu wrote, "David Denton served as CFO of Pfizer for the last four years when the stock was cut in half. Prior to that, he worked at Lowe's Corporation as CFO for four years. It's interesting to see Nike pick a company outsider as well as industry outsider.
