About the job

Requirements
  • Four to ten years of experience in a related role such as structured credit, fund finance, distressed or fundamental credit, or financing and trading analytics.
  • Fundamental credit and collateral analysis skills, including valuation cross-checks using discounted cash flow and comparable-company multiples with normalized EBITDA or EBITDAC.
  • Strong financial modeling capability, including Excel-based cash flow, loan-to-value migration, coverage, amortization, and stress-testing frameworks.
  • Understanding of loan documentation, borrowing-base mechanics, security and enforcement rights, and reconciliation to third-party data.
  • Advanced analytical and numerical competency, including the ability to analyze situations and determine suitable outcomes.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders across Trading, IBR, Fund Finance, and Structuring.
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, booking systems, and trading and closing technicalities.
  • Bachelor's degree or university degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Required licensing and registrations as applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Perform portfolio and asset analysis; collate company and collateral information; evaluate portfolio strengths and weaknesses; and perform red-flag analysis.
  • Source and critically evaluate public information, including news, sector data, and ratings actions, and private sponsor-shared information, including valuation reports, LP fund reports, capital account statements, and ad hoc data.
  • Assess sponsor reporting quality, valuation frameworks and consistency of application, and track records by private equity sponsor.
  • Build trend analysis of position marking; cross-check valuations with discounted cash flow or comparable-company multiples using normalized EBITDA or EBITDAC; and identify valuation anomalies and risk assets requiring further work.
  • Discuss data sourcing with the Fund Finance team and prioritize extraction from sponsors.
  • Investigate the legal and financial structures of each transaction; understand the interrelation between asset quality, realization lifetime, downside valuations, and key loan-documentation terms, including security and enforcement rights, ability to realize asset value in default, and overall risk and reward.
  • Reconcile the borrowing base to third-party audited or reviewed data, including third-party valuation reports, bank reporting packs, and year-end audited accounts.
  • Tie reconciliations back to underlying facility documentation, including advance rates, eligibility, exclusions, and covenants, confirming the numbers and their compliance with the credit agreement.
  • Work with origination and risk teams to investigate and correct errors and liaise with borrowers.
  • Own the setup and management of a repeatable monthly or quarterly process to log and report post-closing borrowing-base reconciliations to Loan Agreement reporting packages, acting as an early-alert system for stressed, materially mismarked, or divergent assets.
  • Ensure output is fed to the broader Trading team and the booking system used for positions.
  • Track information, news flow, and credit marks from public sources, including loan marks, BDC marks, secondary LP pricing, and comparable spreads; produce summaries and ongoing dashboards.
  • Maintain a consolidated marks and liquidity view; flag divergences between carried marks and external evidence; and surface stale or aggressive marks.
  • Build system transparency to capture and flag material observations to Fund Finance and the sponsor.
  • Build Excel models for each portfolio to simulate cash flows, loan-to-value migration, coverage, and amortization under differing asset-realization scenarios, considering tail risk at maturity or end of fund life.
  • Further develop a Trading Desk stress-testing framework extendable to rates, refinancing, and NAV-drawdown shocks.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, and Finance to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure.
  • Assess transaction risk and reward, consider the firm's reputation and safeguard Citigroup, its clients, and assets; drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; adhere to policy; apply sound ethical judgment; and escalate and report control issues transparently.
  • Adhere to Citi's Code of Conduct, the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services, and all policies and procedures defined for the role.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree is preferred.

Citi's Radke: AI splits software into winners like Microsoft and losers like Adobe

Citi's Tyler Radke says AI is splitting software into winners and losers. Radke, co-head of US software equity research, told Bloomberg Television that AI is lifting growth at Microsoft, Palantir, and Snowflake. He expects Microsoft's revenue growth to top 20%, up from 18% in the quarter ended June 30. Office costs under $100 a month and bundles security and Copilot, while rivals charge hundreds of dollars, leaving room to raise prices. Adobe and smaller application vendors face pressure as IT budgets shift to AI, he said. Salesforce agreed to buy Braze for $47.50 per share in cash. Radke questions whether Salesforce can speed up organic growth after half a dozen large deals. If financing stays costly, he expects scale to decide who survives.

US presses China to widen market access for Mastercard and Citigroup in Bangkok talks

US Treasury officials pressed China this week to widen market access for Mastercard and Citigroup, an official said. The delegation, led by Deputy Secretary Francis Brooke, met the People's Bank of China (PBOC) and the finance ministry on the sidelines of the Group of 20 and IMF-World Bank meetings in Bangkok. Regulatory approval was part of the deal reached last month between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, the official said. Mastercard now runs yuan card payments through a joint venture with NetsUnion Clearing Corp. Approval would let it operate independently. Citigroup is seeking a wholly owned securities licence and plans to raise its China securities staff to about 100, people familiar said. It applied in late 2021. On October 13, China allowed Visa to start preparing a wholly owned domestic card-clearing business.
