Requirements
  • Three years of directly related full-time experience in the mortgage industry, including FHA, VA, or conventional mortgage lending.
  • Five years of experience in the financial services industry, including accounting, lending, or finance.
  • Knowledge of financial-industry conditions, the economy, market conditions, interest rates, vendors, competition, mortgage regulations, and applicable banking laws and regulations.
  • Ability to evaluate borrower financial information, creditworthiness, repayment capacity, lending risks, and appropriate mortgage solutions.
  • Ability to comply with Bank policies, procedures, processes, underwriting requirements, Bank Secrecy Act responsibilities, and applicable state and federal banking laws, rules, and regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and cultivate new business relationships through proactive business-development efforts.
  • Expand customer relationships by cross-selling banking products and services and referring clients to appropriate internal partners.
  • Maintain working relationships with mortgage and title companies, contractors, builders, appraisers, real estate agents, and other real estate professionals.
  • Interview prospective borrowers and existing customers to gather financial and personal information and guide them through the loan application process.
  • Evaluate customer needs and recommend lending solutions, including loan terms, interest rates, and repayment options.
  • Follow up with applicants to clarify, verify, and resolve application questions and conduct borrower prequalification assessments.
  • Assess lending opportunities and associated risks in alignment with credit policies, risk-management standards, and economic and industry conditions.
  • Order and review credit reports, flood-zone determinations, and desktop-underwriting findings to support lending decisions and underwriting compliance.
  • Authorize commitment and decline letters.
  • Obtain customer information and documentation and resolve processing and servicing issues for loans within the portfolio.
  • Represent the Bank in community, civic, and community-reinvestment functions to enhance the Bank’s image and develop business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
