Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Hold Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Hold a Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania.
  • Have knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice, cultural awareness, effective communication, patient assessment and care, patient and designated care partner education, medication administration and prescription, discharge planning, assessment and diagnosis, and health information documentation.
Responsibilities
  • Use the nursing process to address patients' physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs.
  • Develop individualized nursing plans of care with patients and their designated care partners.
  • Interact with co-workers, patients, families, designated care partners, and other staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
  • Integrate evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, patient and family preferences, and cultural beliefs and values into healthcare delivery.
  • Identify patient and family learning needs and provide understandable, affirming education.
  • Follow established nursing practices and protocols to minimize risk of harm to patients and others.
  • Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate errors, and support ethical decision-making.
  • Use data to monitor care-process outcomes and design and test changes that improve patient-care quality and safety.
  • Function within nursing and interprofessional teams to achieve quality patient care.
  • Provide safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on patients' preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values.
  • Create an inclusive environment and apply problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Pursue continued professional growth and development and serve as a primary preceptor for appropriate staff members.
  • Participate in hospital- and practice-setting committees, including safety and quality-improvement committees.
  • Give and receive feedback and integrate appropriate changes into practice.
Desired Qualifications
  • Complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an appropriate advanced degree within three years of hire.
  • Have previous experience as a registered nurse in an acute-care setting.
