  • A demonstrated track record of building SRE programs from scratch or scaling immature programs with measurable business impact.

  • Ability to define a charter, secure stakeholder buy-in, and execute a multi-year strategy from concept to maturity.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and building in greenfield environments.
  • Ability to shift organizational mindsets so reliability is a shared responsibility rather than solely an SRE function.

  • Hands-on SRE expertise, including coding, debugging, and architecting solutions alongside the team.
  • Deep understanding of observability, monitoring, and telemetry infrastructure.

  • Data-driven decision-making and comfort with SLOs, metrics, and evidence-based practices.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional change without direct authority.

Responsibilities
  • Build an SRE program from the ground up by defining its charter, operating model, hiring strategy, and multi-year roadmap.
  • Establish SRE principles, practices, and standards across observability products and control plane offerings.
  • Create unified reliability frameworks for internal-facing and customer-facing systems.
  • Design SRE on-call rotations, incident response processes, and a blameless postmortem culture.
  • Build and scale an SRE team across observability and control plane domains.
  • Design hiring criteria and interview processes to attract SREs with platform and reliability expertise.
  • Create mentorship and career-development paths, foster SRE culture, and support continuous learning.
  • Shift product and infrastructure teams toward reliability-first mindsets.
  • Establish SRE career levels, expectations, and growth frameworks.
  • Define and operationalize SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets for observability and control plane products.
  • Build AI-native toil-reduction initiatives and automate repetitive operational work across SRE and product teams.
  • Own incident management by designing escalation policies, postmortem practices, and continuous-improvement loops.
  • Partner with platform and infrastructure teams to improve reliability infrastructure, including CI/CD, deployment systems, and monitoring.
  • Establish reliability metrics, dashboards, and reporting for leadership visibility.
  • Partner with product teams to embed SRE thinking in feature design and development.
  • Work with observability leadership on internal versus commercial product strategy and tailor SRE programs accordingly.
  • Collaborate with customer success and support on customer-facing reliability and define SLA/SLO communication.
  • Partner with infrastructure and platform teams on shared services, runbooks, and operational tooling.
  • Engage with security and compliance teams on reliability-related governance and risk.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with control plane architectures or platform-as-a-service systems.
  • Background building SRE programs in hybrid or multi-cloud deployments.
  • Track record of mentoring and developing other SRE or platform leaders.

  • Hybrid work is established: ServiceNow says most staff have flexible arrangements, requiring two or more office days weekly.

ServiceNow CFO: Overwork doesn't make a better leader, recovery drives performance

ServiceNow president and chief financial officer Gina Mastantuono says overwork does not make a better leader. Speaking at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit, she said recovery is a prerequisite for high performance, not a distraction from it. She criticised the idea that 14-hour days and four hours of sleep show commitment. "That is such a terrible example for the people around us," she said. Prioritising recovery helped her listen more thoughtfully, stay composed under pressure, and improve her work-life balance. Fellow panellist Alicia Hatch of Deloitte said 94% of female C-suite executives played sports growing up. Deloitte projects global women's sports revenue will reach at least $3 billion in 2026, a 340% rise over four years.

Over 25% of S&P 500 stocks are down 40%+: four bargain tech picks, from Netflix to Oracle

More than 25% of S&P 500 stocks are down 40% or more from their highs, even with the index near record levels, as of October 8, 2026. The Motley Fool sees that as a chance to hunt for bargains in tech. It names four picks. Netflix trades at about 18.5 times 2027 analyst earnings estimates, and advertising should drive its growth. Oracle has a $664 billion backlog in cloud infrastructure, but carries heavy debt and burns cash. ServiceNow, hit by the 2026 software sell-off, trades at 7.5 times forward sales as it pushes into agentic AI. AppLovin trades at 13 times 2027 earnings estimates. Its revenue rose 53% last quarter to $1.9 billion.

CFOs at Chevron, ServiceNow and Nasdaq say AI must earn capital; ServiceNow targets $500M savings

Chevron, ServiceNow and Nasdaq finance chiefs say AI projects must prove their worth before getting funded. They spoke on a panel at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit in Santa Barbara on Tuesday. Chevron's chief financial officer, Eimear Bonner, said AI "has got to compete for capital" and cannot be "a science experiment." She wants a clear path to value and results that reach the bottom line. ServiceNow's Gina Mastantuno said CFOs must also weigh the cost of falling behind rivals. The company expects $500 million in savings this year, largely from using its own products. Nasdaq's Sarah Youngwood sorts investments by time horizon and tracks AI metrics such as coding speed, client retention and token costs.

ServiceNow vs. Palantir: can faster AI growth justify paying 139× vs. 31× cash flow?

Palantir Technologies trades at 139 times trailing free cash flow compared to ServiceNow's 31 times, but investors are paying the premium for faster AI-driven growth. Palantir's June-quarter revenue surged 93% to $1.94 billion, with GAAP operating income reaching $912 million, about 47% of revenue. ServiceNow's second-quarter subscription revenue rose 24.5% to $3.88 billion. Current remaining performance obligations increased 21% to $13.2 billion. Operating cash flow reached $587 million, with free cash flow at $473 million after property purchases. Institutional ownership data shows ServiceNow's holder count increased to 115 from 108 in Q1, whilst Palantir's fell to 86 from 96. Palantir had 60.18 million shares short on 15 September, approximately 2.8% of float. Both companies offer different enterprise automation approaches, with the valuation gap reflecting Palantir's exceptional growth trajectory.
