About the job

Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and certification as a Certified Recovery Support Specialist or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in good standing with the State of Illinois; or a bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, education, psychology, or a related human service field; or a bachelor's degree in one of those fields together with Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification; or a master's degree in one of those fields.
  • A valid driver's license, private automobile insurance, and eligibility to be insured when applicable are required.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and an electronic medical record are required.
  • Satisfactory completion of the employer's background-checking process is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide client-centered services including assessment, therapy, community support, and medication management.
  • Use evidence-based practices for skill development and facilitate individual, roommate, family, and group therapy.
  • Connect clients with additional clinical resources.
  • Assume a leadership role with minimal guidance and oversight.
  • Promote the recovery model through trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health and wellness, and spirituality or connectedness.
