About the company

Turo is a peer-to-peer car sharing platform that lets private car owners rent out their vehicles to others. Owners list their cars with set prices and availability, and renters browse listings to book a vehicle for a chosen period. The platform handles the payment, insurance coverage, and customer support, making the transaction smooth for both sides. Turo earns revenue by taking a percentage of each rental and offering optional premium insurance packages. The service differentiates itself with a wide range of vehicles, from everyday cars to luxury and specialty options, and by providing a convenient, community-driven alternative to traditional car rentals. Its goal is to connect owners with people who need temporary car access, making car sharing a flexible and cost-effective option within the sharing economy.

Turo launches Delivered service bringing rental cars to hotels, homes and airports

Turo has launched Turo Delivered, a service that brings rental cars directly to customers' chosen locations, including hotels, homes, airports, and train stations. The service will go live in early November. The car rental marketplace reported that year-to-date bookings with delivery to hotels or home addresses have grown by 32%. The new offering formalises this demand into a native experience with a redesigned location search feature. Hosts can set delivery zones and custom pricing based on distance. The service is part of Turo's broader strategy to reinvent car access, alongside Turo Monthly, which has more than doubled its revenue since launching last autumn. Turo reported 19% year-over-year growth in booked days during Q2.

Direct co-host payments are here.

Direct co-host payments are here. Direct co-host payments launched over the summer of 2026: trip earnings now split automatically inside the Turo app between business partners, no manual spreadsheet, no separate transfer. The specific friction this removes. Before this feature, one partner in a co-hosting arrangement received the full trip payout and then had to manually calculate the other partner's share and send it separately, on their own schedule, using their own math. Every step in that chain was a place for a delay, a disagreement, or a simple arithmetic mistake to creep in. The new flow moves the split into the same payment event as the payout itself. What it does not do. It automates the transfer, not the agreement behind it. Two co-hosts still need their own clarity on who handles maintenance, who handles guest messages, who eats a claim if one comes in, and what happens if either side wants out. A cleaner payment rail makes a well-defined partnership run smoother. It does nothing for a partnership that never wrote its actual terms down in the first place. Where this helps most, and where it doesn't go far enough. A single host splitting earnings with one trusted partner gets the full benefit immediately: the manual accounting step just disappears. An operation managing splits across several vehicle owners at once will likely still want a reporting layer beyond a simple earnings split, since owner statements typically need more context, itemized expenses, per-vehicle performance, than a flat percentage split can show on its own. What's still coming, not yet live. Turo has flagged two related features as still in progress as of the Summer 2026 release: an Invoice Hub that tracks every invoice for a reservation in one place regardless of trip length, and automated earnings splits with revenue reporting specifically for vehicle owners and co-hosts in the passive-income hosting program, US only. Neither is live yet alongside direct co-host payments, but both are aimed at the exact same problem: getting money and paperwork between partners without anyone doing it by hand. What to do with an existing manual arrangement today. Test the new split on your next trip alongside your existing manual process for one full cycle before retiring the spreadsheet entirely, just to confirm the automated numbers match what you'd have calculated by hand. turo 2026 changes co-hosting

Turo bookings climb as Halifax tourism boosts vehicle demand.

Turo bookings climb as Halifax tourism boosts vehicle demand. July 14, 2026 Strong summer tourism in Halifax is fueling demand for vehicles beyond the traditional rental market, offering another sign that alternative mobility platforms continue to gain traction alongside conventional vehicle ownership. According to Turo Canada, bookings for trips beginning in Halifax during July and August are up 43 per cent compared with the same period last year. The company said the increase reflects record tourism activity and growing consumer acceptance of peer-to-peer vehicle rentals - an evolving mobility trend that dealers are increasingly watching as it expands in major Canadian markets. Interest is especially strong around Halifax's marquee summer events. Bookings during the Halifax Busker Festival are up 48 per cent year over year, while reservations during the TD Halifax Jazz Festival have increased by more than 50 per cent. Canada Day long weekend bookings also rose 12 per cent compared with last summer. According to Turo, Halifax hosts earned more than $2.2 million from completed trips during July and August 2025. With bookings already running ahead of last year's pace, the company expects local vehicle owners could generate even higher earnings this summer. The growth coincides with a record year for tourism in Nova Scotia. According to the provincial government, the sector generated $3.7 billion in revenue in 2025, an eight per cent increase over the previous year, while more than 2.1 million people visited the province. "Summer travel plays an important role in Halifax's economy, and local car owners have an opportunity to share in that growth," said Bassem El-Rahimy, Vice-President of Turo Canada. The latest figures continue Turo's expansion across Canada. Earlier this month, the company launched operations at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport, expanding its Canadian airport network and giving travellers another option for accessing vehicles through its marketplace.

Halifax car owners earn income as Turo bookings surge 43% amid summer festival boom

Halifax car owners are earning additional income through Turo as summer travel demand surges. Vehicle bookings on the car rental marketplace are up 43% for July–August 2026 compared to last year. Demand is strongest around major events. Bookings during the Halifax Busker Festival rose 48%, whilst TD Halifax Jazz Festival bookings increased over 50% year-on-year. Canada Day long weekend bookings climbed 12%. Last summer, Halifax hosts earned more than $2.2 million cumulatively through completed trips in July and August alone. With bookings outpacing last year, local hosts are expected to earn even more this summer. The growth reflects Nova Scotia's record tourism performance. The sector generated $3.7 billion in revenue in 2025, an 8% increase that exceeded the national average.

Turo launches 'Carfished' campaign highlighting common rental car booking experience.

Turo launches 'Carfished' campaign highlighting common rental car booking experience. * 2 hrs ago Turo's latest campaign, in partnership with ad agency L&C, reminds travelers that the car they book should be the car they drive. Sir Jeffrey Donaldson leaves Newry Crown Court With Turo, the exact car you rent is the exact car you get." - David Corns, Chief Marketing Officer at Turo SAN FRANCISCO, CA, UNITED STATES, July 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ - Anyone who's rented a car knows the feeling. You reserve the sleek SUV shown online, wait in line at the rental counter, and drive away in something completely different. Turo, the car rental marketplace, is giving that all-too-common experience a name. Today, Turo launches "Carfished," a new global campaign created with independent award-winning creative agency, L&C, that shines a light on one of traditional car rental's biggest frustrations: booking one vehicle but receiving another. Borrowing from the familiar idea of being "catfished," the campaign introduces "carfished" as the feeling of expecting one car and ending up with something entirely different. Through the campaign, Turo highlights a feature of its marketplace model in which travelers reserve a specific vehicle offered by an individual host, rather than selecting a vehicle category. The campaign contrasts that experience with the vehicle substitutions that can occur through traditional rental models. That guarantee is especially valuable as more than half of Americans have plans to hit the road for their summer vacations this year, and nearly all of those travelers expect to be in the car for at least 10 hours. "The traditional rental car industry has spent decades conditioning travelers to accept the bait-and-switch as a standard cost of business. We've all experienced that dread at the counter - showing up only to be handed a completely different vehicle than the one we booked," says David Corns, Chief Marketing Officer at Turo. "With Turo, the exact car you rent is the exact car you get." "The beauty of this campaign lies in the insight," said Gian Carlo Lanfranco, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Creative Officer at L&C. "Almost everyone has experienced the disappointment of arriving at a traditional rental counter only to be handed a car that looks nothing like the one they booked - smaller, older, or simply different. We've all been 'carfished' at some point. By tapping into that universal experience, we're able to highlight a benefit that aligns with Turo's marketplace model. We believe it's a simple, relatable idea that can resonate with audiences around the world." The campaign also extends to social media. In one example, TikTok creator Regional Jet Regular shared a video describing an experience in which the vehicle he received from a traditional rental company differed from the one he had reserved. Turo later worked with the creator on a follow-up video featuring a vehicle booked through its marketplace. "Carfished" launches across Turo's key global markets and will appear across digital video, connected TV, social media and online channels. The campaign continues the company's broader brand platform highlighting its marketplace model, in which travelers reserve a specific vehicle rather than a vehicle category.
