Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is required.
  • Two years of acute care experience are required.

  • The role requires knowledge of patient assessment tools and techniques, nursing diagnosis, and clinical judgment.

Responsibilities
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager provides oversight for patient care and nursing services on the assigned unit and shift.
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager promotes quality evidence-based care and patient satisfaction in a fiscally responsive manner.
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates with the Nurse Manager in assessing and planning nursing care.
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager assists in leading the daily operations of the unit.
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager acts as a resource, lead, and clinical role model for the patient care team.
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager advances and oversees patient care standards for the designated shift.
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager facilitates and coordinates patient care delivery and flow through the continuum of care.
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager carries out the Nurse Manager’s responsibilities in the Nurse Manager’s absence with guidance from the Administrative Director.
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager participates in hiring and evaluating staff.
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective nursing-unit operations.
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager supports nursing professional development, Magnet, and Shared Governance by participating in and mentoring colleagues on councils and the Clinical Ladder program.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master’s Degree in nursing is preferred.
  • One year of experience in a similar or comparable unit is preferred, along with demonstrated leadership and management potential.
