Tesla designs and sells electric vehicles and renewable energy products. Its cars (Model S, 3, X, Y, and Roadster) run on battery power, with a semi-autonomous Autopilot driving system and a global network of fast-charging stations called Superchargers. The company also provides solar panels, Solar Roof, and energy storage products (Powerwall, Powerpack, Megapack) to generate and store clean energy for homes and businesses. Tesla operates with a vertically integrated model, manufacturing key components (batteries, drivetrains) and selling directly to customers via its website and stores, while earning revenue from vehicle and energy product sales and regulatory credits. Its goal is to speed up the world’s transition to sustainable energy by combining mobility and energy solutions in one ecosystem.

Tesla is set to unveil its Cybercab at an event on Thursday at its Austin, Texas, headquarters. The company first showed a prototype in 2024 and has since operated a pilot ride-hail programme in Austin, expanding to other cities in Texas and Florida. Tesla recently added 51 Cybercabs to its fleet of vehicles registered in Texas. CEO Elon Musk has said the company will sell Cybercabs directly to consumers before the end of 2026, though the business model remains unclear. The Cybercab's success depends on Tesla proving its camera-only autonomous driving system works at scale. The company's Full Self-Driving product currently requires driver supervision, and regulators are investigating crashes involving the system in poor visibility conditions.
Tesla is raising Cybertruck prices in the US by $5,000 for both the Dual Motor all-wheel-drive and Premium AWD models. The move reverses Tesla's earlier strategy of using price cuts to drive demand. In its latest quarter, Tesla generated $28.24 billion in revenue, up 26% year-over-year. However, non-GAAP earnings per share came in at $0.33, missing the $0.54 analyst estimate. The price increase comes as the global electric vehicle market is projected to grow from $1.15 trillion in 2025 to $1.86 trillion by 2035. Tesla's gross margin declined to 16.8% from 17.2% year-over-year, whilst operating margin fell to 1.4% from 4.1%. TSLA stock is down 19% year-to-date but up nearly 6% over the past 52 weeks.
Tesla's Monday surge has wall street watching what comes next. Tesla shares climbed 5.62% as a lower-priced Model 3 launch, Cybercab plans, and a China recall involving Tesla drew attention. Updated Aug. 31, 2026 Fact checked Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) traded at $368.35 in Monday afternoon trading, up $19.60, or 5.62%, from its previous close of $348.75. A single-session swing this size can shift where you stand financially if TSLA is a core part of your portfolio. The stock is in focus after a lower-priced Model 3 launch in Hong Kong and Macau added to attention on Tesla's push to protect demand in Asia, while the market also tracked autonomous vehicle plans and a China recall that included Tesla models. Get a protection plan on all your appliances Did you know if your air conditioner stops working, your homeowner's insurance won't cover it? Same with plumbing, electrical issues, appliances, and more. Whether or not you're a new homeowner, a home warranty from Choice Home Warranty could pick up the slack where insurance falls short and protect you against surprise expenses. If a covered system in your home breaks, you can call their hotline 24/7 to get it repaired. For a limited time, you can get your first month free with a Single Payment home warranty plan. Session rebound. The stock opened at $347.22 and climbed as high as $368.54. Its intraday low was $347.15, putting most of the afternoon move above the previous close. At the current quote, TSLA was $0.19 below the session high. That kept the stock near the top of its Monday range as traders weighed new product news against fresh regulatory pressure. Market mood helped. Recent market commentary tied Tesla's move to stabilizing equities after a period of macro-driven selling pressure. The same commentary said discounted technology valuations helped lift demand for high-beta growth stocks. Tesla is often grouped with growth and technology-linked names that can move sharply when risk appetite changes. That made the broader recovery in appetite for large technology-linked stocks an important part of Monday's setup. Asia price push. Tesla launched a simplified, lower-priced Model 3 variant in Hong Kong and Macau. The model starts at HK$205,000 in Hong Kong and MOP 252,000 in Macau. Reports described the Hong Kong price as an 8.5% reduction from the previous base model. Lower prices can support demand, but they also keep attention on margins because they can reduce profit per vehicle. The launch comes as Tesla faces intense competition in Asian EV markets, especially from China-based automakers. Market watchers are focused on whether lower-priced configurations can help the company defend volume without putting too much pressure on profitability. You May Also Like Cybercab countdown. Tesla has a Cybercab event scheduled for Sept. 3 in Austin. The vehicle is designed without a conventional steering wheel or pedals, a layout that signals Tesla's focus on purpose-built autonomous mobility. Tesla has already reported engineering drives on public roads and employee rides on the Gigafactory Texas campus. However, reporting also noted that Tesla had not disclosed key commercial details, including fleet size, service area, fares, eligibility rules, or when ordinary riders could summon a Cybercab. The project remains central to Tesla's effort to expand beyond traditional vehicle sales. Autonomous mobility is still one of the company's most closely watched growth initiatives. China recall pressure. Regulatory risk remains part of the story. A China recall covers about 4.3 million vehicles across Tesla and eight other automakers over concerns that emergency door-release mechanisms may be difficult to locate or operate. Tesla's portion of the recall is reported at about 2.98 million imported and China-made Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X vehicles. The recall adds another variable for Tesla in one of its most competitive markets. The issue also lands as domestic EV makers continue to compete aggressively on price, technology features, and local market reach. Analyst backdrop. Citigroup recently reiterated a market perform rating on Tesla. Market perform is generally a neutral rating that points to expectations more in line with a benchmark or peer group than a strong outperformance call. The rating sits against a busy news cycle for Tesla. Investors are weighing the stock's sharp Monday move against Asia pricing, the upcoming Cybercab event, and regulatory follow-through in China. Bottom line. Tesla's Monday rally reflects a mix of stronger market sentiment, fresh Asia pricing news, and investor focus on autonomy. Rallies like this often encourage newcomers to start investing, though timing entry around catalysts demands careful risk assessment. The next focal points for market watchers are the Sept. 3 Cybercab event, demand response to the lower-priced Model 3, and regulatory follow-through in China. Market commentary also linked Tesla's broader growth story to autonomous mobility, energy storage, and artificial intelligence infrastructure, leaving investors to balance long-term technology ambitions against near-term margin and regulatory pressures. Einride AB announced on 18 August 2026 that it will add 500 Tesla Semi trucks to its fleet, expecting revenue growth to more than double in the second half of the year. The company's shares initially jumped 12% before reversing to close down 7%. The 500-truck order, funded entirely through outside financing, will triple Einride's fleet to approximately 750 trucks. The company aims to reach 1,500 to 2,000 trucks by 2028. First-half revenue grew 26% year-over-year, with expected growth of 60% to 75% in the second half. Einride's net loss reached the equivalent of $117.56 million, largely due to one-time costs from its June stock market listing. Shares were down 43% for the year before the announcement. Tesla's stock fell 0.7% on the same day, showing minimal market reaction to what Einride called "the biggest Tesla Semi order in the world.
