About the company

Stripe builds payment software that businesses of all sizes plug into their websites and apps to accept money online and in person. After its public launch in 2011, it won over internet startups by letting developers start taking payments with a few lines of code. Businesses use it to take cards and digital wallets, block fraud, bill subscriptions, and pay out sellers on online marketplaces, while Stripe earns a fee on each payment plus charges for add-on tools. Irish brothers Patrick and John Collison founded Stripe in 2010, and it is based in South San Francisco, California, and Dublin, Ireland. In 2016, John Collison, then 26, became the world's youngest self-made billionaire.

Stripe's stablecoin card is no major threat to XRP, but its bridge-currency thesis is fading

Stripe and its partner Plasma plan to launch payment cards for spending stablecoins across five currencies. Announced on October 15, the cards will be offered in more than 100 countries in 2027. Because users spend stablecoins directly, they avoid currency exchange fees and waits for international transfers to clear. That targets the problem XRP was built to solve as a bridge currency. The World Bank puts the average cost of sending $200 abroad at 6.3%. Still, the two serve different customers. Stripe's card targets individuals and the businesses that issue cards, while XRP, with a market cap of about $83 billion, remains a niche tool for institutions making very large transfers. XRP faces bigger problems: Ripple's own cross-border payment options now list stablecoins and fiat currencies, not XRP. The XRP Ledger collected only $1.6 million in fees in the 30 days ended October 21.

Exclusive: A look at Stripe's next push beyond payments: Treasury for Agents.

Exclusive: A look at Stripe's next push beyond payments: Treasury for Agents. Oct 21, 2026 Payments giant Stripe announced Wednesday a new set of capabilities dubbed Treasury for Agents, the company tells This Week in Fintech exclusively. The new toolkit allows startup founders to use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Cursor and Claude to pay invoices, transfer funds between accounts and convert currencies. For example, a founder paying a contractor could ask an agent to review an uploaded invoice, check for duplicate payments and find the contractor's details from earlier transactions. Next, the agent could prepare the payment for approval without the founder having to switch between an AI tool and financial providers. The capabilities are in public preview, JR Farr, product lead for Stripe Treasury, said in an exclusive interview. They build on Treasury, which brings banking, cards, payouts and other financial services into the same dashboard businesses use to accept payments. A bank account is one of those products. (Stripe is not a bank, and Fifth Third Bank provides its checking accounts.) More than 10,000 users already use Treasury for Agents to read financial information and check balances, according to Farr. A smaller group has been testing agents' ability to carry out financial tasks, though he did not say how many users are making transactions through agents. For Stripe, adding agents is part of a broader - and concerted - effort to become the place startups manage their finances, beyond accepting customer payments. When asked whether the company wants Treasury for Agents to help make Stripe the primary financial account for startups, Farr responded: "Absolutely." Farr brings his founder experience to that effort. Stripe acquired his company, Lemon Squeezy, in 2024. "I'm building a banking and finance product that I would want for me as a founder," he said. JR Farr, product lead at Stripe Treasury; Image credit: Stripe What agents can do. The way it works is fairly straightforward. Founders can connect agents to Treasury through Stripe's model context protocol, or MCP, server, granting them access to Stripe's data and financial tools. Any agent that can connect to the server can use Treasury for Agents, according to Farr. Personal agent Muse, for example, can connect to a Treasury account to check balances and analyze spending. Users can choose which accounts an agent can access and whether it can read information or perform actions within each account. Stripe enforces those permissions, Farr said. For refunds and payouts involving real money, a person must confirm the transaction before funds move. But what happens if an agent performs an unauthorized transaction or conducts an incorrect payment? Stripe had not yet encountered that situation and would investigate if it happened, Farr said. Stripe also plans to let agents create cards and allow businesses to set spending limits for their agents. One founder, with help from agents. In a statement announcing Treasury for Agents, Stripe described the case of Kubrio, a platform where children ages 6 to 13 create films, games, comics and robot designs. The company has just one employee - its founder, Vlad Stan. His Grok agent, Stash, connects to Kubrio's Stripe Treasury account and sends him a daily report on balances, subscription changes, failed payments and refunds. He plans to have it prepare transfers and payments to contractors and creators for his approval, Stripe said. Notably, solo founders accounted for 63% of C corporations formed through Stripe Atlas in the second quarter of 2026, according to the company. But Farr said the tools are also intended for venture-backed and bootstrapped startups with teams. He sees them helping founders keep up with routine financial work without hiring a large finance department, particularly when paying people located in different countries. A bigger role in startup finances. As more of the behind-the-scenes financial work happens through Stripe, Farr sees an opportunity to give founders a more useful view of their businesses. In his view, the ability to bring payment revenue, account balances and spending together could help them better understand their finances. Also, keeping money within Stripe could also mean it's available sooner, so that founders wouldn't have to wait for payments to settle and move to another bank. Over time, Farr envisions agents drawing on a company's payment and banking history to help founders understand cash flow, customer retention and seasonal patterns, and then use that information to make decisions. Stripe also wants to work with startups before they earn their first revenue. Farr described businesses incorporating through Atlas, receiving investment in a Treasury account and using those funds to get started. He did not spell out how Stripe plans to make money from Treasury for Agents, saying the immediate focus is getting businesses to use it and making Stripe more useful to existing customers. "It's more of how do we provide more value for the users to trust and stay with Stripe," Farr said.

Payments giant Stripe to launch Israel operations.

Payments giant Stripe to launch Israel operations. 20 Oct, 2026 14:21 The international payments giant, whose services are currently not available in Israel, is seeking a manager to introduce and oversee operations in Israel. US-Irish payments giant Stripe is seeking a manager for its operations in Israel, listing an annual gross salary range of NIS 1.22 million to 1.84 million. According to the company's website, the Israel manager will be responsible for local market strategy, expanding the sales organization, and driving growth across a client base ranging from startups and small businesses to large enterprises. The job posting notes that Stripe views Israel as a strategically important market. As part of its efforts to deepen its presence in the country, the company is building out its local leadership team and the capabilities required to expand services for its clients and partners. The role is that of a General Manager for the Israeli market; responsibilities extend beyond sales to include coordination with the company's product, engineering, legal, finance, risk management, and compliance teams. Stripe provides financial infrastructure that enables businesses to accept payments and manage related business processes. According to the posting, the manager in Israel will be tasked with recruiting and leading sales personnel, increasing the adoption of the company's products, and cultivating relationships with the leadership teams of clients and partners. In addition to commercial responsibilities, the role involves engaging with financial institutions, fintech companies, regulators, and government bodies. Over NIS 100,000 per month The manager will be responsible for building the commercial and operational capabilities to support the company's long-term activity in Israel, as well as for representing the needs of the Israeli market to global teams. Minimum requirements include at least 15 years of experience in technology, payments, or financial services, at least ten of which must be in senior commercial management or general management roles. The company seeks candidates with experience managing significant operations in Israel, leading teams, and working within a regulated environment; professional proficiency in both Hebrew and English is also required. Experience in the payments sector and in establishing local operations for a global company is considered an advantage. The salary range stated in the job posting is NIS 1,223,500 to 1,835,300 per year - about NIS 102,000 to 153,000 per month. However, it is important to note that this should not be interpreted as a guaranteed base salary: Stripe clarifies that for sales-related roles, the published range reflects total compensation contingent upon meeting targets, comprising a base salary plus commissions or bonuses. The posting does not specify the breakdown of these components for the Israeli position. Furthermore, the company mentions the possibility of equity and additional benefits, depending on location and employment terms. This current recruitment drive serves as an indication of Stripe's intention to expand its operations in relation to the Israeli market. It is worth noting that, currently, Stripe's payment processing services are not yet available in Israel. Published by Globes, Israel business news - en.globes.co.il - on October 20, 2026.
