Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of prior retail experience, sales experience, or customer service experience is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to open and close the store at least three times per week and work two weekend shifts per month.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including events, holidays, evenings, and weekends.
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work legally in the United States.
  • Must have strong customer-focused engagement and consultative selling skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and employees.
  • Must demonstrate urgency, flexibility, and willingness to adapt to change.
  • Must be able to receive feedback and take appropriate action.
  • Must be proficient and comfortable using a computer and other technology.
  • Must be able and willing to learn the business.
  • Must be able to access store cash and product assets and maintain accurate records and deposits.
  • Must be able to assist with training new store employees and work with store management on policies, operational changes, and training initiatives.
  • Must be able to continuously stand and walk, push and pull, lift and carry up to 10 pounds, use fine finger movement and tactile touch, and grasp, grip, and hold with the hands or fingers.
  • Must be able to frequently bend at the waist, climb or work at heights, kneel, squat, lift or carry up to 40 pounds, and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to occasionally balance on uneven surfaces and lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to rarely drive or travel, lift or carry up to 75 pounds, or remain seated during job performance.
  • Must be able to continuously communicate with customers, coworkers, and vendors in person or by phone, including speaking, hearing, and sight.
  • Must be able to work in conditions involving dust, cleaning agents, truck exhaust, inadequate lighting, noise, product scents, outdoor tasks, and work at heights in the stockroom or on the product floor.
Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain a warm, inviting, and easy-to-navigate shopping environment.
  • Build and share expertise on products, promotions, services, and brand rewards programs tailored to shopper needs and occasions.
  • Support store management with the team.
  • Help customers find suitable card and gift solutions.
  • Share and showcase stories and communities of caring.
  • Handle store operations including product replenishment and merchandising, ringing sales, processing shipments, managing inventory, fulfilling Hallmark.com orders, and making curbside deliveries.
  • Deliver an exceptional consumer shopping experience.
  • Work as part of a team to help meet store sales goals.
  • Uphold company policies and practices.
  • Complete other duties or special projects as assigned.
  • Provide product recommendations and solutions through proactive customer interactions.
  • Serve as a role model for best-practice retail execution.
  • Share product knowledge and incorporate store communications.
  • Manage daily tasks assigned by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.
  • Open and close the store at the start or end of the day.
  • Perform inventory management procedures, product sets, stocking, housekeeping, and stockroom duties.
  • Work closely with the corporate store team and report to the Store Manager.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in specialty retail, sales, or customer service is preferred.
