Elektrobit and Microchip streamline AUTOSAR software development.

Elektrobit and Microchip streamline AUTOSAR software development. Key Takeaways * Elektrobit (EB) and Microchip have partnered to deliver a pre-integrated AUTOSAR stack that runs on Microchip's automotive-grade microcontrollers. * The joint solution cuts typical Classic AUTOSAR integration time from 8-12 weeks to 3-5 weeks, according to early adopters. * Automation-first tooling (integration-as-code) reduces manual effort by ≈ 70 % and lowers integration-related defects by ≈ 40 %. * Safety-critical ISO 26262-compliant MCAL and BSW components are supplied out-of-the-box, easing certification pathways for OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers. Why the automotive software landscape demands faster AUTOSAR development. The shift toward software-defined vehicles (SDVs) has forced original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier-1 suppliers to compress development cycles while preserving functional safety (ISO 26262 ASIL A-D) and functional integrity. Traditional Classic AUTOSAR projects typically involve: | Aspect | Conventional AUTOSAR Integration | EB + Microchip Pre-Integrated Stack | | Integration time | 8 - 12 weeks (manual MCAL/BSW setup) | 3 - 5 weeks (automation-driven) | | Manual code changes | 200 + lines per ECU on average | < 50 lines (generated) | | Defect rate | 1.2 defects/1 kLOC | 0.7 defects/1 kLOC | | Certification effort | Separate MCAL qualification | MCAL already ISO 26262-rated | | Scalability | Linear with engineer headcount | Near-linear with automation scripts | Sources: internal benchmark data from early-access customers (Q2 2026). The core of the collaboration. Microchip automotive hardware platforms. * PIC32MZ-EF and SAMD5x-E5x families, featuring up to 400 MHz cores, 2 MB flash, and 512 KB RAM. * Integrated safety-critical peripherals (dual-CAN FD, Ethernet, LIN) with ASIL-B compliance out of the box. * Support for AUTOSAR Adaptive as well as Classic profiles, enabling a migration path for future-proof ECUs. Elektrobit's EB tresos Portfolio. * EB tresos Classic provides a fully certified Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL), Basic Software (BSW), and RTE generator. * Integration-as-Code framework turns repetitive configuration steps into version-controlled scripts (Git-compatible). * Toolchain includes EB Configurator, EB Generator, and EB Automation Server for continuous integration (CI) pipelines. How the joint solution accelerates development. * Pre-Integrated MCAL & BSW - Developers receive a ready-made AUTOSAR-compliant MCAL that matches the selected Microchip MCU, eliminating the 2-week "bring-up" phase. * Automation-First Workflow - EB's integration-as-code scripts automatically generate RTE files, perform static analysis, and run unit tests on each commit, cutting manual validation time by up to 70 %. * Single-Source Traceability - All configuration artifacts are stored in a unified repository, satisfying ISO 26262 traceability requirements without extra documentation effort. * Scalable CI/CD - The solution plugs into Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI, allowing multiple ECU projects to be built in parallel on shared hardware farms. Real-World impact. A Tier-1 supplier reported that a high-volume power-train ECU (12 MB flash, 2 MB RAM) moved from concept to production in 4 months, compared with the typical 7-month timeline. The same project achieved ISO 26262 ASIL-C certification with 30 % fewer safety case artifacts, thanks to the pre-qualified MCAL. Future outlook. Both companies have announced a roadmap that will extend the partnership to AUTOSAR Adaptive and over-the-air (OTA) update frameworks by Q2 2027, targeting high-performance compute nodes for ADAS and autonomous driving. Bottom line. Elektrobit's EB tresos suite combined with Microchip's automotive microcontrollers delivers a production-ready AUTOSAR foundation that slashes integration time, reduces defect rates, and eases safety certification. For OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers racing to launch SDVs, the partnership offers a tangible shortcut from silicon to software-defined vehicle features, while preserving the rigor required for automotive safety standards.

Elektrobit and Microchip team up on pre-integrated AUTOSAR software for automotive platforms

Elektrobit and Microchip Technology have announced a collaboration to simplify AUTOSAR-based software development for automotive manufacturers and suppliers using Microchip platforms. Customers get pre-integrated AUTOSAR Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL) software built on Elektrobit's EB tresos portfolio. The companies say it cuts integration complexity and project risk, so developers can focus on applications and vehicle differentiation. Elektrobit has enabled EB tresos AutoCore OS and AutoCore Generic modules on Microchip's SAMA5 series of microprocessors, available to customers now. Support for more platforms is expected. Initial market efforts will target high-growth automotive segments in Asia, including two-wheelers, with wider opportunities in Asia and North America.

Microchip expands space power portfolio with radiation-tolerant GaN converter.

Microchip expands space power portfolio with radiation-tolerant GaN converter. October 15, 2026 Microchip Technology, announces the POL-05-20S-T, a radiation-tolerant, Point-of-Load (POL) converter, designed to address the demanding power requirements of space processing applications. The new device uses Gallium Nitride (GaN) power devices to deliver up to 20A of output current with high efficiency and power density. The converter is supplied in a compact, 25g surface-mount package measuring 1.51" x 1.51" x 0.45". By delivering 20A in this footprint, the device helps engineers manage the size, power and energy constraints that accompany increasingly capable onboard processing systems. The GaN-based design is intended to provide a combination of high efficiency, high power density and continuous current capability for challenging space power applications. "Space designers are integrating increasingly powerful digital processing, creating demand for compact power solutions that can respond quickly, while operating reliably in harsh environments," said Ronan Dillon, senior director of Microchip's high-reliability and RF business unit. "The POL-05-20S-T extends our space power portfolio with a high-current GaN solution that helps customers achieve high power density, design flexibility and system-level reliability." The POL-05-20S-T is designed for high-current, fast-transient applications such as for the core voltage rails of FPGAs, microcontrollers, ASICs and other processing-intensive digital loads. It combines a synchronous buck topology with current-mode control to support fast current transients and stable operation. With a wide input range of 4.75V to 13.2V and adjustable 0.7V to 5V output, the device offers flexibility to address multiple power rails and system architectures. Designed for harsh radiation environments, the POL-05-20S-T has electrical parameters specified before and after irradiation up to a Total Ionizing Dose (TID) of 50 krad. The device is characterized for Single Event Effects (SEE) up to a Linear Energy Transfer (LET) of 43 MeV·cm[2]/mg. It operates from −55°C to +100°C at full load, supporting systems exposed to wide temperature variations over the course of a mission. To support reliable power delivery, the POL-05-20S-T incorporates remote sensing, undervoltage and overvoltage protection, soft start, an enable pin and power-good indication pin. Adjustable output voltage, a wide input range and output droop regulation further help designers tailor the converter to high-current loads requiring tight voltage regulation and rapid transient response. Microchip delivers a comprehensive space power suite that is part of an end-to-end solution for space system designers, including EMI filters, DC-DC converters, point-of-load regulators, Hi-Rel discrete components, FPGAs and the PIC64-HPSC High-Performance Spaceflight Computing devices. Built on decades of space heritage, the portfolio helps customers simplify development, reduce design risk and accelerate deployment of mission-critical space systems.
