Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Three years of nursing experience are required; critical care or emergency room experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of patient-and family-centered practice is required, including conveying respect and collaborating with each patient, family, and designated care partner in care.
  • Cultural awareness is required, including knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively.
  • Effective communication is required, including understanding communication concepts, tools, and techniques and accurately transmitting, receiving, and interpreting ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication behaviors and partnership language with patients and families.
  • The ability to promote high levels of interdisciplinary collaboration is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross is required.
  • A New Jersey Registered Nurse license is required.
Responsibilities
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in accordance with Jefferson values, policies, and procedures, while maintaining a positive and professional image.
  • Provide safe, compassionate, and coordinated patient-centered care that respects patients' and families' preferences, priorities, needs, cultural beliefs, and values.
  • Communicate with and support the interprofessional team, patients, families, and designated care partners; serve as a liaison for external callers by providing directions and resources; and communicate clearly in individual and group settings.
  • Provide leadership and operational direction across departments, units, and interdepartmental functions, including coordinating patient movement and patient flow to the appropriate level of care with unit leadership.
  • Support department leadership in achieving compliance with professional, regulatory, hospital, and departmental standards by promoting clinical excellence, safe patient care, patient and family satisfaction, and a patient-centric culture.
  • Partner with Nursing Leadership to strengthen colleague commitment and engagement through initiatives supporting nursing and professional staff.
  • Collaborate with staffing and resource management teams to ensure workforce deployment; review staffing decisions; oversee schedule balancing, vacation requests, holiday coverage, last-minute staffing changes, and payroll reconciliation.
  • Serve as a clinical and operational resource for policies and procedures, patient care standards, performance improvement, and risk management, while facilitating Department of Nursing and Hospital goals and objectives.
  • Lead and support education and professional development for the administrative nursing leadership team by ensuring completion of mandatory education, maintenance of licenses and certifications, development opportunities, and communication of operational updates.
  • Provide leadership for workforce safety and environment-of-care initiatives with security and administrative leaders, integrate and coordinate Administrative Nursing Supervisors across three campuses, and promote inclusion, respect, diversity, and staff appreciation.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree is preferred.
  • One year of demonstrated leadership and management experience is preferred.
  • Certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse (Adult) through the Direct Care Pathway of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, or Nurse Executive Certification-Board Certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center, is preferred.
  • At least eight years of nursing experience as a Registered Nurse is preferred.
