Veeva Systems provides cloud-based software that helps consumer goods and chemical companies manage quality, regulatory compliance, and advertising claims. The platform works by connecting different departments—from the supply chain to marketing—to provide a single source of data that tracks a product's journey and ensures it meets safety standards. Unlike competitors that offer general business tools, Veeva specializes in navigating the highly complex regulations originally found in the life sciences sector and applies that specific expertise to other regulated industries. The company's goal is to help businesses bring safe, sustainable, and compliant products to market faster by providing end-to-end visibility and traceability.

Veeva Systems poised for growth on strong product portfolio and CRM migrations

Veeva Systems is well-positioned for growth due to its strong product portfolio and solid second-quarter fiscal 2027 performance, though market saturation remains a concern. The cloud-based software provider for life sciences has gained 25.7% year-to-date, outpacing the industry's 11.3% and the S&P 500's 10.8% growth. The company's Development Cloud portfolio is driving expansion across clinical development, quality management, and regulatory operations. Vault CRM adoption advanced significantly in Q2, with Veeva securing 12 of the top 20 biopharma CRM commitments. Commercial subscription revenues rose 13% year-over-year to $347.4 million. The company projects 35% growth over the next five years and maintains a market capitalisation of $45.6 billion.

Michael Burry trims Veeva position after stock surges 89% in 10 weeks

Michael Burry trimmed his position in Veeva Systems after the stock nearly doubled in roughly 10 weeks. The investor reduced his holding to around 3% of his portfolio whilst maintaining exposure to potential upside. Veeva surged 89% from a June low of $150.39 to $285 by late August. The catalyst was the company's Q2 fiscal 2027 earnings, which beat expectations across all metrics. Revenue grew 18% year-over-year to $928 million, exceeding the $905 million consensus. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $2.35 versus $2.22 expected. Burry described the move as "playing with the house's money" on a position he continues to favour. The trim represents disciplined position management rather than a bearish call on Veeva's prospects.

Veeva grows subscription revenue 16% as GAAP operating income jumps 40% — but is the margin expansion sustainable?

Veeva Systems reported fiscal Q2 revenue of $928 million, up 18% year-over-year, with subscription revenue rising 16% to $766.8 million. GAAP operating income increased 40% to $275 million, pushing the operating margin to 29.6% from 24.8%. However, the prior-year quarter included a $30.6 million litigation charge. Adjusting for this makes the underlying margin expansion closer to one percentage point. The company now has over 180 customers live on Vault CRM, including five of the top 20 biopharma companies, with 12 top-20 firms committed globally. Veeva added more than 30 clinical customers and surpassed 100 Safety customers. Non-GAAP operating income rose 18% to $415.9 million, with margins edging up to 44.8% from 44.7%. GAAP operating cash flow remained flat at $238.7 million year-over-year.
