Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of emergency medical services experience is required.
  • A minimum of two years of emergency medical services driving experience with a clean driving record is required.
  • Applicants must pass a medical evaluation and respirator fit test.
  • Applicants must be able to wear an N95 particulate filter respirator mask under PEOSHA standards.
  • Applicants must hold active, valid certification as an NJ Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic or NJ Mobile Intensive Care Nurse.
  • Mobile Intensive Care Nurse applicants must obtain certification before completing the probationary period.
  • Paramedics seeking New Jersey reciprocity may receive conditional employment after passing a background check and physical examination, must obtain provisional Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic certification from the New Jersey Department of Health before starting work, and must obtain full New Jersey Paramedic certification to remain employed.
  • Applicants must hold a valid driver's license with New Jersey driving privileges and meet Department of Transportation and Motor Vehicle Commission vehicle requirements.
  • Applicants must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Applicants must hold American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider certification.
  • Applicants must hold American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider certification or Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals—Advanced certification.
  • Applicants must hold Incident Command System Level 100 or higher certification.
  • Applicants must hold National Incident Management System Awareness certification through FEMA IS-700 or an equivalent course.
  • Applicants must hold Hazardous Materials Awareness certification or higher.
  • Applicants must hold CBRNE or Weapons of Mass Destruction Awareness certification or higher.
Responsibilities
  • Provide and direct Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support in the pre-hospital setting.
  • Work in coordination with EMS team members under the direction of a licensed Medical Control Physician and EMS Supervisor.
  • Respond to emergencies involving patients of all ages and backgrounds in all weather and environmental conditions.
  • Use appropriate equipment and techniques to assess, treat, lift, and safely transport patients.
  • Transport patients to appropriate medical facilities based on their condition and care needs.
  • Accurately complete all required reports and documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support efficient EMS operations.
  • Represent University Hospital and EMS with professionalism, integrity, and compassion.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of a Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator training course is preferred.
  • A valid Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or Basic Trauma Life Support provider card is preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred.
  • Previous experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
