Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or another relevant programming language is valuable.

OpenAI conducts AI research and deployment to build advanced AI models and tools that help people automate tasks, be more creative, and make better decisions. Its products include ChatGPT, a conversational AI that can write, code, tutor, and assist in interactive tasks, and Sora, which can generate videos from text prompts. OpenAI’s models typically run through cloud-based services and subscriptions, with licensing and partnerships for broader use. The company operates a capped-profit model to balance generating revenue with ensuring safety, ethics, and long-term societal benefits. Its approach emphasizes safety, responsible deployment, and collaboration with researchers, governments, and institutions. The goal is to ensure artificial general intelligence, when it arrives, benefits all of humanity and minimizes risks.

OpenAI launches ChatGPT Images 2.5, slashing latency up to 50%

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Images 2.5, which improves multi-turn editing consistency and reduces image generation latency by up to 50% compared with Images 2.0. The company also introduced two new application programming interface models, GPT-Image-2.5 Flare and GPT-Image-2.5 Sunburst. OpenAI said people create more than 3 billion images each week across ChatGPT Images and GPT-Image API models. The system retains safeguards including prompt and image checks, C2PA metadata, and invisible watermarking. C2PA, or Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity, is part of a broader provenance standard that uses metadata to show a file's source and integrity. Using both metadata and invisible watermarks can help platforms identify synthetic media.

OpenAI's ChatGPT-6 Astra launch sparks memory-chip stock rally as AI spending continues

OpenAI's launch of its ChatGPT-6 Astra model last week revitalised investor interest in memory-chip stocks. Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Kioxia posted strong gains on Monday as enthusiasm from US semiconductor stocks spilled into Asian markets. Astra is designed to handle more complex tasks, boosting optimism about demand for high-bandwidth memory and graphics processing units. Analysts believe the launch supports continued AI spending, with frontier AI models remaining extremely compute-intensive. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley estimate that of the expected $1.3-1.5 trillion in AI capital expenditure planned for 2027, more than half will be devoted to memory. The iShares Semiconductor Index jumped 3.5% on Friday, bringing its year-to-date return to 72%.

Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley push for OpenAI and Anthropic investment-grade ratings despite $20.9B losses

Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley have asked major credit rating agencies to grant investment-grade status to OpenAI and Anthropic upon going public, despite neither company turning a profit, the Financial Times reported. OpenAI posted a $20.9 billion operating loss on $13.1 billion revenue in 2025. Anthropic doesn't expect to break even until 2028, with OpenAI targeting 2030. The investment-grade designation would allow pension funds and insurers to buy their bonds. It would also terminate Nvidia's guarantee of up to $105 billion in lease obligations for OpenAI's Ohio campus. Rating analysts currently describe both labs as speculative-grade and loss-making. When SpaceX received investment-grade ratings after its June IPO, its bonds traded near junk pricing within days. Anthropic could list in late September, whilst OpenAI targets 2027.

Nvidia CEO claims AGI has arrived with OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra as crypto bettors increase odds to 28%

Polymarket odds for OpenAI formally declaring artificial general intelligence (AGI) by 31 December jumped to 28% from 19% the previous day, following recent announcements. The spike came after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that AGI has arrived with OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra, which was trained using Nvidia processors. OpenAI President Greg Brockman shared Huang's post, saying the company is "now moving into the AGI era". OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra to select organisations, with plans for a gradual rollout to ChatGPT users. The company described the model as designed for "the most demanding professional work" with "unmatched speed, accuracy, and judgement". CEO Sam Altman called it "the best model in the world for computer use". AGI refers to AI systems with general, human-level ability to learn, reason and apply knowledge.
