Rabobank is a Dutch cooperative bank focused on financial services rooted in rural credit unions. It serves individuals, businesses, and especially the food and agribusiness sector, covering the full value chain from farmers to retailers. Its products include wholesale and retail banking, payments, lending, leasing, insurance, real estate, and asset management, funded by deposits and loans, with governance by local member councils. Dutch bank Rabobank announced it will invest €2 billion over the next three years in data, technology, and AI to strengthen its IT foundation and enhance customer experience. CEO Stefaan Decraene said the investment aims to meet evolving customer expectations as new technologies transform banking operations. The move follows similar initiatives by other banks, including British bank Lloyds, which announced AI-driven cost-cutting plans last month. Rabobank reported first-half net profit of €2.69 billion, unchanged from the same period last year. The investment comes as banks worldwide increase their AI spending to remain competitive and improve services.
