About the company

Vertiv builds power and cooling equipment that keeps data centers, communication networks, and industrial facilities running through outages and heavy computing loads. Its Liebert cooling systems manage the heat generated by servers, while its power products protect equipment and distribute electricity. The company sells equipment directly and through distributors, then earns additional revenue from installation, maintenance, spare parts, and services throughout the equipment life cycle. Its portfolio also includes racks and software for monitoring and managing IT equipment. Vertiv became a standalone company in 2016 and is headquartered in Westerville, Ohio.

Vertiv's services and spares jump 62% as sales rise 61% to $4.3B

Vertiv, which builds digital infrastructure for data centres, communication networks, and industrial facilities, is drawing investor attention for its services and spares business rather than its backlog. The company stopped reporting quarterly backlog numbers at the end of last year to reduce volatility from large, intermittent orders. Services and spares grew 62% in the third quarter of 2026 compared with 2025. Net sales rose 61% year over year to more than $4.3 billion, adjusted earnings per share climbed 78%, and adjusted free cash flow grew 50% to $652 million. Vertiv recently completed its acquisition of European firm King Environmental Services, following its 2025 purchase of PurgeRite in North America. Shares remain well below their 52-week high of $379, and the main risk is hyperscaler spending. The company's backlog stands at $15 billion.

Vertiv Q3 sales hit $4.3B as organic orders more than double on AI demand

Vertiv (NYSE: VRT) reported third-quarter 2026 net sales of $4.3 billion on its earnings call on October 28, 2026. Demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure is driving adoption of the company's power and thermal management systems. Organic orders more than doubled from a year earlier, said chief executive officer Giordano Albertazzi, though Vertiv does not disclose order figures. Factory-built modular infrastructure can cut data center deployment time by up to half, he said. It lets operators bring AI computing online and earn revenue sooner. Vertiv is expanding manufacturing capacity worldwide and pursuing targeted acquisitions while keeping its balance sheet disciplined. "We are delivering very strong results today, while investing aggressively for tomorrow," said executive chairman David Cote.

Vertiv swings to $355M net cash from $1.27B net debt, but a $1.45B deal looms

Vertiv, which sells power and cooling equipment for data centres, ended September with net cash of $355 million, against net debt of $1.27 billion a year earlier. It is the first quarter end since March 2020 in which its cash exceeded its debt. Cash and short-term investments rose to $3.71 billion from $1.94 billion, while debt edged up to $3.36 billion from $3.21 billion. Operations generated $3.67 billion of cash over twelve months, up from $1.53 billion. Third-quarter revenue grew 61.2% to $4.31 billion. On October 27, Vertiv completed a cash acquisition of UtilityInnovation Group for about $1.45 billion upfront, and could pay up to $1.15 billion more if earnings targets are met. The upfront price alone would leave net debt near $1.1 billion. The fourth-quarter report, expected in February 2027, will show where the balance sheet stands.
