Requirements
  • An active State of Florida Registered Nursing License is required.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations is required.
  • Knowledge of mental health and substance use is a plus.
  • Must pass a Level 2 background check through the Florida Department of Children and Families and the Agency for Health Care Administration Clearinghouse.
Responsibilities
  • Observe and assess clients' course of treatment while they are in residence.
  • Perform nursing assessments according to agency protocols and procedures regarding frequency and timeliness.
  • Organize assessment data accurately and completely.
  • Document clients' progress according to identified needs and treatment-plan goals.
  • Administer nursing care and treatment according to agency protocols, procedures, and accepted nursing care standards.
  • Attend and participate in daily treatment team meetings as appropriate.
  • Recognize and report signs of aggressive behavior using non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Monitor clients on special precautions according to unit protocols and procedures.
  • Use individual seclusion and restraints in accordance with unit protocols and procedures as a last resort.
  • Receive and interpret change-of-shift reports.
  • Review assigned clients and evaluate their plans of care.
  • Administer physician-ordered medications and maintain responsibility for medication security.
  • Administer medications or oversee self-administration in accordance with unit policy and procedure.
  • Provide medication education and document it.
  • Count, administer, and chart medications accurately according to established procedures.
  • Verify medication orders by client name, medication, dosage, time, and route of administration.
  • Administer PRN medications according to appropriate indications and verify them against the original order.
  • Administer scheduled medications within 60 minutes of the ordered time.
  • Monitor and document medication responses and reactions according to unit protocols and procedures.
  • Document medication variances and report them to the Program Manager.
  • Conduct medication counts at the beginning and end of each assigned shift.
  • Keep the medication area secure, organized, neat, and orderly.
  • Ensure client charts are assembled properly.
  • Prepare written documentation for all services rendered.
  • Document services rendered in accordance with agency standards for the client's medical record.
  • Accurately document observations, procedures, and care provided during the client's treatment.
  • Document individual progress according to identified needs and treatment-plan goals.
