What believers are saying

  • Sept. 2026 partnerships with CSD BR and Absa expand Ripple into securities and custody.
  • Ripple's Seoul roadmap targets 2027 XRP credit using lending pools and payments collateral.
  • Brazil's BRL 22 trillion market and BTG Pactual pilot create immediate institutional distribution.

What critics are saying

  • The SEC case ended, but Ripple still owes a $125 million penalty and sales limits.
  • XRPL tokenization stays permissioned, so banks can exit if compliance or privacy breaks.
  • Ripple's business still depends on XRP narratives; weak ETF flows or adoption kill demand.

What makes Ripple unique

  • Sep. 29, 2026: CSD BR chose XRPL for Brazil's first public-ledger securities record mirroring.
  • Ripple Custody now underpins Absa's African bank custody launch and Brazil's permissioned tokenization.
  • XRPL Confidential Transfers pair zero-knowledge proofs with auditor decryptions for regulated finance.

Japan's mega banks conclude successful yen stablecoin trial.

Japan's mega banks conclude successful yen stablecoin trial. Japan's leading megabanks - MUFG, Mizuho, and SMBC - have announced the successful completion of the first collaborative phase of their yen stablecoin trials, conducted in partnership with Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and TISI. The pilot aimed at exploring the efficacy of stablecoins in cross-border settlements was a success, signaling a significant step in the integration of digital currency solutions within Japan's banking infrastructure. Pilot project tests cross-border payments. Discover more Trade Forex Trade Crypto Now Ethereum Network Tools Under the watchful eye of the Financial Services Agency of Japan, the trial included cross-border settlement processes for Mitsubishi Corporation, employing stablecoins structured under the status of trust beneficiary rights. This structure ensured a seamless and uninterrupted payout process from issuance to final conversion into fiat currency. MUFG, Mizuho, SMBC, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust, and TISI confirmed that the yen stablecoin trials were completed successfully, from issuance to redemption in fiat currency. Set to be commercially available before the current fiscal year ends, the stablecoin mechanism signals a noteworthy advancement in the melding of digital currencies with the banking standards in Japan. Speculations surround Ripple connection. While the consortium documents do not explicitly mention Ripple, financial circles in Japan are speculating a connection to the XRP Ledger ecosystem, primarily due to the longstanding relationship between Japan's top banks and Ripple technology. Known as the XRP Ledger or XRPL, this open-source blockchain network plays a significant role in the Ripple ecosystem. Discover more Financial News Platform Ethereum Investment Guide ETH Security Audits Glossary: XRPL is an open-source blockchain network intended for cross-border payments and asset transfers. RWA tokenization refers to converting traditional assets like stocks or bonds into digital tokens on the blockchain. In 2017, MUFG, Mizuho, and SMBC joined a large-scale banking consortium under the umbrella of SBI Ripple Asia, aimed at utilizing RippleNet technologies for instant domestic and cross-border payments. The influence of this institutional connection is still apparent today. Market may split along two lines. Recently, Mizuho Bank and SMBC's investment arm have engaged directly with Ripple Labs to set up tokenization of real-world assets and enterprise DeFi solutions on the XRP Ledger. This yen stablecoin initiative could be interpreted as an attempt by the Japanese banking system to reduce dependency on external liquidity bridges. Particularly through MUFG's Progmat platform, developed on the Avalanche blockchain, there are ambitions to maintain compliance and processing fees within traditional banking frameworks. As one of Japan's largest financial groups, MUFG continues to be a prominent player in establishing digital asset infrastructure in the country. Discover more Crypto market analysis Blockchain Courses Crypto Market Updates The emerging framework suggests that the mega banks' closed institutional payment architecture could coexist with a more open digital asset ecosystem centered around Ripple. This scenario indicates the potential division of the market along two axes. On one side, mega banks and the Progmat platform are expected to dominate closed B2B transfers. On the other, the regulated dollar stablecoin RLUSD backed by SBI Holdings and the existing liquidity of XRP could retain their influence in cross-border retail payments and open financial technology services.

Ripple Prime launches RLUSD-backed swaps across 100+ traditional markets

Ripple Prime has launched perpetual swaps covering more than 100 traditional markets, including equities, exchange-traded funds, metals, energy, and foreign exchange. Announced on October 15, the contracts trade around the clock, including weekends, and institutions can post Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin as collateral. The swaps track perpetual futures listed on Hyperliquid, a decentralised derivatives platform, by Trade.xyz. Ripple Prime acts as the principal counterparty, so clients do not trade directly with Hyperliquid. US market maker Virtu is among the first users. The service runs under Ripple Prime's British Virgin Islands licence, so US investors may face restrictions. It builds on Ripple's $1.25 billion acquisition of Hidden Road. The announcement does not require clients to buy XRP, which traded near $1.34 on October 15.

Cross River adds Ripple's RLUSD to core banking, but XRP demand remains unclear

Cross River has added Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin, which runs on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), to its core banking platform. The bank announced the move on October 15. Fintech customers can access RLUSD, ACH, and real-time payments through a single API connection. The service supports round-the-clock transfers between dollars and RLUSD, including cross-border payments and treasury transfers. It is available only in certain states. "Businesses shouldn't have to rely on several different providers to move money across the globe," said Adam Goller, Cross River's head of fintech banking. The deal does not guarantee demand for XRP. RLUSD handles payments, while XRP covers transaction fees and account reserves, so larger stablecoin payments do not require equivalent XRP purchases.

HYPE rebounds near $82 as Ripple Prime expands institutional access to Hyperliquid markets.

HYPE rebounds near $82 as Ripple Prime expands institutional access to Hyperliquid markets. Key takeaways * HYPE recovered to $81.88 after falling to approximately $77.59 following hotter-than-expected US producer inflation. * Ripple Prime introduced institutional RWA perpetual swaps referencing more than 100 Trade.xyz markets on Hyperliquid. * HYPE faces resistance at $83.10, while support lies around $76.30-$75.70. HYPE recovers after inflation-driven selloff. Hyperliquid's HYPE token rebounded toward $82 on Friday, recovering from an intraday decline as new institutional trading initiatives drew attention to the platform. HYPE traded at approximately $81.88 at the time of this report, up 0.8% over the previous 24 hours. Earlier, the token fell to around $77.59 after a stronger-than-expected US inflation reading. September's Producer Price Index rose 6.3% year over year, exceeding expectations of 5.3%. The surprise renewed concerns about the Federal Reserve's interest rate outlook and weighed on risk-sensitive assets. Leveraged bullish positions absorbed most of HYPE's liquidation losses. CoinGlass data showed approximately $7 million in long liquidations, compared with $810,000 in short positions. Although the rebound restored HYPE above $80, the token remained below important short-term moving averages. Ripple announced Thursday that Ripple Prime had introduced real-world asset perpetual swaps covering more than 100 reference markets. The products span equities, equity indices, exchange-traded funds, metals, energy and foreign exchange. Trading and settlement are available around the clock, including weekends. The swaps reference Trade.xyz perpetual futures listed on Hyperliquid. Ripple Prime acts as the principal counterparty, giving institutional clients access through its brokerage services rather than requiring them to trade directly on the decentralized platform. The offering expands the connection between institutional brokerage services and Hyperliquid's derivatives infrastructure. However, the launch does not establish a direct or immediate increase in demand for HYPE itself. RLUSD collateral and cross-margining support the offering. Eligible clients can use Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin as collateral for the new swaps. Ripple Prime also supports cross-margining across eligible asset classes, allowing institutions to manage collateral requirements and portfolio risk across multiple positions. Offsetting exposures may reduce margin requirements, depending on the portfolio and applicable rules. Market maker Virtu is among the institutions already using the products, according to Ripple. The service is currently offered through Ripple Prime's CIV BVI license. Ripple plans to expand availability to additional regions but has not provided a timetable. Separately, EQX Labs announced plans to introduce 11 tokenized US equity and ETF markets on Hyperliquid's HyperCore infrastructure. The proposed lineup includes exposure to Apple, Nvidia, Amazon and Tesla, alongside ETFs tracking major US markets. According to EQX, the tokens will trade on Hyperliquid's public order book and will each be backed by shares held in custody. These planned products differ from the perpetual derivatives Ripple Prime referenced. Together, the initiatives point to a broader range of traditional-market exposures being developed around Hyperliquid. HYPE faces resistance at the 50-Day EMA. HYPE's daily chart retains a slightly bearish tone despite the rebound. The token remains above its 100-day Exponential Moving Average at $76.30 but below the 50-day EMA at $83.10 and the 20-day EMA at $85.40. That positioning suggests longer-term support remains intact while short-term recovery attempts face overhead resistance. The Relative Strength Index stands near 43, below its neutral midpoint. Meanwhile, the Stochastic Oscillator is around 20, indicating weak momentum near oversold territory without confirming a reversal. Initial resistance sits at $83.10. Above that, the horizontal barrier at $85 and the 20-day EMA at $85.40 form the next resistance area. A sustained recovery through those levels would bring $97.80 into focus. On the downside, the 100-day EMA at $76.30 and horizontal support at $75.70 form an important defensive zone. Losing that area could expose successive support levels at $67.60, $61.10 and $51.50.
