Care.com is an online marketplace that helps families find caregivers for children, seniors, and pets. Families subscribe to access caregiver profiles, background checks, and reviews, while caregivers can pay for premium listings to boost visibility. The platform also offers payroll management and insurance services as add-ons, generating revenue from subscriptions and ancillary services. The product works by letting families search and view caregiver profiles, verify credentials, and read reviews, with background checks and payroll/insurance options enhancing trust and administration. Care.com differentiates itself through its broad focus on multiple care types (childcare, elder care, pet care), its global reach, and a subscription-plus-services model that includes premium listings and admin support. The company's goal is to connect families with trusted caregivers efficiently at scale, providing verified information and easy-to-use tools to manage care arrangements.

Dallas' Care.com hires former Amazon and Grubhub exec as chief product and technology officer. Sam Hall brings more than 20 years of experience to the Dallas-based online care services platform. He previously held product positions at Amazon, GrubHub and ClassPass. Hall "is going to help us create deeper, more lasting value for our customers whether you're a family looking for care or a caregiver looking for work," Care.com CEO Brad Wilson said in a statement. "He's got real instincts for how marketplaces work and, just as important, Sam has deep experience operating at the intersection of product and engineering." "We look forward to giving him the runway to rethink what Care.com can be, not just tighten what's already here," Wilson said. Digital product expertise At e-commerce giant Amazon, Hall and his team built the company's mobile platform, Care.com said. At Grubhub, Hall and his team merged separate tech environments into a single platform to accelerate restaurant onboarding and enhance driver retention, Care.com said. Earlier, Hall helped increase revenue at ClassPass and CLEAR. "As both a father and a son, I've experienced caregiving from multiple sides - the sleepless nights, the tough decisions and the relief of finding the right support at the right moment," Hall said. "That personal connection to care is exactly why I'm so excited to join Care.com." Hall's personal background helps drive his enthusiasm for the job and makes him a great fit for Care.com, Wilson said. "At Care.com, the mission is everything. It's what gets us out of bed every morning," Wilson said. "So what makes us most excited about Sam joining the team is his passion for that mission." "He recently moved back to the U.S. in part because of his own family's caregiving responsibilities, so he has real, personal experience with how hard it is to find care you can trust," Wilson said. "That's exactly who we want on this team." New look, new tech Hall joins Care.com a little over a year after it rolled out product improvements and a new brand identity. In a statement, the company said the initiative aimed to transform Care.com "from a transactional platform to a more holistic guided platform." The tech upgrade included new AI-enhanced search tools. "This is more than just a new look and feel - it's a renewed promise to our members," Wilson said in a statement. Acquisition of Care.com Care.com, founded in 2007, said it's one of the largest providers of online services for finding care jobs and family care, serving more than 45 million people. Care.com's reach extends to in-home and out-of-home care for children, aging loved ones and pets. In March, a fund affiliated with private equity firm Pacific Avenue Capital Partners acquired Care.com from media company IAC Inc. The portfolio of IAC, now known as People Inc., includes People, Better Homes & Gardens, Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure and Southern Living magazines. In a statement, Wilson said the acquisition represented a new chapter for Care.com. The company moved its headquarters from Austin to Dallas last year. "We're focused on accelerating how we support families and caregivers while continuing to expand our solutions for employers who recognize caregiving as essential to their workforce," Wilson said. "With a strong foundation in place, we're moving forward with clarity and confidence in the opportunity ahead."

LegalShield partners with Care.com to bring expert Senior Care advising to employer benefits. New benefit gives employees access to dedicated senior care guidance. Nearly three in four Sandwich Generation workers say this type of support would influence their decision to stay with their employer. ADA, Okla.-(BUSINESS WIRE)-LegalShield today announced a partnership with Care.com's employer offering CareBenefits to bring their Senior Care Advisor program to LegalShield members as part of the 2027 National Enhanced Plan. The addition extends LegalShield beyond legal protection to offer whole-family support at one of the most demanding moments employees face: caring for an aging parent. The partnership is rooted in what LegalShield was already hearing from its own members. Since 2022, elder care-related requests for legal assistance to LegalShield provider firms have more than doubled, making it the number one area of law LegalShield provider attorneys are now addressing. Nearly half of those reaching out are Gen X and Millennial members caring for their Baby Boomer parents, asking about Powers of Attorney, healthcare directives, conservatorships, Wills, and estate planning. To better understand what was driving the increase, LegalShield commissioned two surveys. A survey of more than 1,100 working adults between the ages of 40 and 60 found that more than half are actively coordinating a parent's care right now, with nearly two-thirds spending six or more work hours a month on caregiving tasks during the workday. When asked whether access to a dedicated senior care advisor would affect their decision to stay with their employer, nearly three in four said yes. A separate survey of more than 1,000 HR executives found that nearly nine in ten say employee caregiving has a major impact on absenteeism and productivity, yet only 37% feel confident their current benefits actually meet eldercare needs. The data pointed to a clear need. In response, LegalShield partnered with CareBenefits by Care.com to provide integrated care and legal benefits in one place and is developing a series of free resources to help both employers and Sandwich Generation employees navigate what is becoming a crisis. Through the partnership, LegalShield members enrolled in the National Enhanced Plan will have access to Care.com's Senior Care Advisor program that connects families directly with masters-level social workers who specialize in senior care. Members receive 1:1, personalized consultation summaries, prescreened provider referrals and ongoing guidance for navigating elder care decisions. When legal questions arise, a LegalShield attorney is already part of the plan. "Employers are increasingly aware that caregiving does not stop when employees walk through the door," said Emily Rose, President of Business Solutions at LegalShield. "This partnership gives employers a meaningful answer for workers navigating one of the most demanding seasons of their lives, and it strengthens the benefit package in a way that directly supports retention and productivity." "Caring for an aging parent is one of the most complex and emotional experiences a family can face, and too often people navigate it without real guidance," said Ajith Segaram, GM of Enterprise, Care.com. "This partnership brings our expertise directly to employees who need it most, giving them access to a dedicated advisor who can help make sense of one of the hardest seasons their family will face and build a plan to get through it." The Senior Care Advisor program powered by Care.com will be included in LegalShield's 2027 National Enhanced Plan. Coverage extends to the member, their spouse or partner, children, parents, in-laws, and grandparents. "Legal and life are not separate things," Rose said. "This partnership moves us closer to being the single resource employers and their people can turn to when life gets complicated."
