About the Job

Requirements

  • An agent-native engineering mindset, including comfort with AI agents as the primary software execution layer and manual coding being prohibited.
  • Production-oriented autonomous agentic development experience using Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or comparable platforms, including parallel agents, subagents, reusable skills, hooks, MCP servers, and automated execution pipelines.
  • Practical experience with specification-driven development methodologies such as GitHub Spec Kit, BMAD Method, or equivalent, transforming requirements into structured specifications, executable plans, and independently verifiable agent tasks.
  • Strong context engineering capabilities, including structuring repositories, engineering knowledge, agent instructions, and persistent context; understanding context-window management, progressive disclosure, retrieval strategies, context compaction, and long-running agent execution.
  • Experience orchestrating multi-agent engineering workflows, decomposing initiatives into parallel workstreams, coordinating specialized agents, managing dependencies and isolated execution environments, and establishing integration and verification processes.
  • Hands-on experience with frontier reasoning and coding models such as Claude and GPT/Codex, including model selection, reasoning effort, tool use, structured outputs, token economics, and cost-performance trade-offs.
  • Expertise in agentic quality assurance and autonomous verification, including deterministic quality gates, automated testing, static analysis, architectural fitness functions, security scanning, independent agent reviews, test-driven development, adversarial validation, and iterative feedback loops.
  • At least 4 years of production experience with Java (Spring/Spring Boot) or Kotlin, including concurrency, performance optimization, database interactions, and application architecture.
  • Deep knowledge of distributed systems and financial-grade backend engineering, including scalable microservices, event-driven architectures, transactional consistency, fault tolerance, observability, and high-throughput, low-latency processing.
  • A security-first approach to autonomous engineering, including agent permissions, sandboxed execution, secrets management, supply-chain security, prompt injection risks, policy-as-code, and controlled deployment workflows.
  • Ability to measure agentic development by delivery quality, lead time, reliability, cost, and engineering throughput, and to continuously evaluate and improve autonomous engineering workflows.
  • Ability to articulate architectural decisions, challenge assumptions, collaborate across engineering, product, security, and compliance, and take end-to-end ownership of outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate AI agents that design, implement, test, refactor, and maintain production-grade Java and Kotlin systems; evaluate generated implementations and ensure production-grade performance, security, and reliability.
  • Translate complex engineering challenges into agent-executable work, establish specifications and acceptance criteria, coordinate parallel development workflows, and own engineering decisions and outcomes.
  • Build agent-native development workflows, maintain machine-readable architecture and documentation, define reusable skills and tools, and create context infrastructure that enables agents to navigate codebases and execute tasks autonomously.
  • Establish continuous automated verification across the software lifecycle using deterministic tests, architectural constraints, security controls, and regulatory requirements, including PCI DSS and financial compliance standards.
  • Design feedback loops that allow agents to detect failures, investigate causes, correct implementations, and independently verify results, with human oversight for high-risk decisions.
  • Build agent-driven operations and production reliability systems that enable agents to understand runtime behavior, investigate incidents, identify performance bottlenecks, and propose or execute controlled remediation.
  • Develop observability, operational tooling, and infrastructure as interfaces for intelligent systems to interact safely with global payment infrastructure.
  • Collaborate across engineering, platform, security, and data teams to build an ecosystem of specialized agents that share capabilities, context, and execution standards.
  • Challenge traditional engineering practices and reduce unnecessary human coordination and repetitive work.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with payment systems, PCI DSS, and regulated financial infrastructure.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or banking systems.
  • Experience working with AWS services and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled systems or interest in integrating intelligence into applications.
  • Background in event-driven architectures and message-based systems such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
