Spearhead designs and builds complex timber and steel structures for architectural projects, collaborating with architects, engineers, and builders. It uses Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) to connect BIM-based design to CNC fabrication and on-site assembly. It differentiates itself with vertical integration, notably a $60 million facility to manufacture its own glue-laminated timber (glulam) in-house, including long curved elements, zero-VOC products, and GSA glued-in-rod tech, with machinery from Ledinek and Hundegger. Its goal is to streamline the path from concept to construction and deliver architecturally driven, sustainable timber and steel architecture across multiple countries.

Simplify Jobs

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Construction started in 2026, confirming capital commitment and visible execution on expansion.
  • Recent hiring for finance, supply chain, and project leadership signals growth and backlog.
  • The new plant targets 80-foot glulam and GSA glued-in-rod products for premium projects.

What critics are saying

  • The $60 million plant depends on Ledinek and Hundegger installation, delaying revenue until 2027.
  • Project-based revenue leaves Spearhead exposed if luxury commercial and residential demand slows.
  • Structurlam, Boise Cascade, and Canfor intensify competition for mass-timber fabrication contracts.

What makes Spearhead unique

  • Spearhead’s DfMA workflow ties design, fabrication, and on-site assembly into one system.
  • The Nelson facility adds in-house glulam, curved members, and advanced CNC capability by 2027.
  • Few North American fabricators match its zero-VOC glulam and double-curved timber specialization.
