About the job

Requirements
  • Have 2–4 years of full-cycle recruiting experience in a startup, technology company, or staffing/agency environment.
  • Technical recruiting exposure is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Ask focused questions to understand what candidates want and apply that approach to diagnosing recruiting-funnel issues.
  • Read candidate potential beyond credentials and prior employers or schools.
  • Prioritize candidate quality over speed and escalate doubts about borderline candidates.
  • Build proactive sourcing pipelines rather than relying only on inbound candidates.
  • Flag searches in trouble early and support concerns with data.
  • Manage several searches concurrently while maintaining follow-through with candidates and hiring managers.
  • Work effectively in ambiguity and a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Own 4–6 concurrent searches from initial outreach through offer close.
  • Source candidates from high-bar organizations and engage passive candidates.
  • Assess candidate quality from limited signals and distinguish strong candidates before formal interviews.
  • Maintain clean applicant tracking system data, follow recruiting playbooks, flag process breakdowns, and surface pipeline-health observations to the team.
  • Partner with hiring managers by running structured kickoffs, setting process and timeline expectations, maintaining engagement, and coaching them toward better evaluation.
  • Reject weak candidates when pipelines are thin or timelines are tight, and defend decisions with specific evidence.
  • Set standards that enable team members to make decisions without escalation.
  • Run tight decision loops, act on reversible decisions with available information, and adjust as learning develops.
  • Work hands-on across organizational levels to learn ground truth and improve information flows.
Desired Qualifications
  • Technical recruiting exposure.

About the company

January is a debt collection platform that serves creditors (banks and financial institutions) and borrowers (individuals or businesses who owe money). It uses a tech-enabled approach to improve debt recovery by applying machine learning to optimize collection strategies while prioritizing compliant, respectful interactions. The platform automates adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and increases recovery rates for creditors, reducing legal and reputational risk. Its key differentiator is combining data-driven autorecovery optimization with a personalized, human-centric approach, treating borrowers with dignity instead of treating them as numbers. The business earns revenue by charging creditors for using the platform, based on the improved recovery outcomes and lower risk. The goal is to raise recovery rates, lower risk, and set a higher standard for ethical debt collection in the financial services industry.
