About the job

Requirements
  • You've built a product from first specification through paid launch, made the strategy calls yourself, and been accountable for the results.
  • You're comfortable in scrappy environments, building with a small team and constrained resources, including building measurement and billing systems yourself.
  • You know prosumer and consumer subscription software, including freemium funnels, self-service, and individual buyers, and understand what makes people pay for software themselves.
  • You've designed and shipped pricing, making packaging decisions with revenue consequences, ideally taking a product from free to paid tiers.
  • You have broad product judgment, think in terms of purpose and user value rather than only conversion mechanics, and have pivoted a roadmap quickly when evidence demanded it.
  • You're deeply analytical and hands-on, with experience in cohort analysis, retention data, and willingness-to-pay testing.
  • You bring user empathy and clear, direct communication, and can hold your own with senior leadership and users.
Responsibilities
  • Define the product's purpose and competitive positioning, including the target users and why they would switch.
  • Own the product roadmap end to end, from discovery, prioritisation, and sequencing with engineering and design through shipping against launch dates.
  • Own pricing and packaging by architecting tiers and deciding which features drive free adoption and which are gated to drive subscription revenue.
  • Re-sequence the roadmap when market, competitor, or user evidence demands it, and defend both the pivot and what is deliberately set aside.
  • Run deep user research, segment target prosumers, identify what users value and will pay for, and test willingness to pay.
  • Partner with growth marketing to jointly own activation and free-to-paid conversion; own what converts while marketing owns who arrives, and exchange signals so product and go-to-market evolve together.
  • Build early product and commercial infrastructure hands-on, including billing logic, activation and retention metrics, and pricing experiments.

About the company

Nothing Technology Limited designs and sells consumer electronics such as smartphones, wireless earbuds, audio devices, and smartwatches through direct-to-consumer channels and retail partners. The company differentiates itself with a design-led aesthetic, a community-funded investment model, and a sub-brand for affordable products (CMF by Nothing) created to reach more price-sensitive customers. Its goal is to become a design-focused challenger in consumer tech by expanding its ecosystem of devices and software under Nothing OS and growing both sales and brand adoption.

Nothing Headphone (1) Pro review: triple-driver design delivers outstanding sound

Nothing's Headphone (1) Pro uses a triple-driver design: a bass dynamic driver, a precision dynamic driver, and a treble xMEMS driver. Each handles a different frequency range, aiming for clearer, fuller, less distorted sound. Every other major ANC headphone brand uses a single dynamic driver for the full range, which makes the approach a risk. The reviewer found the sound quality outstanding, with added clarity and energy in the midrange and treble. Stevie Wonder's "Another Star" sounded more spacious than on the Sony WH-1000XM6 and Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen). Bass is clear but less punchy than on the Sony, which made Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, and EDM less fun. A simple EQ adjustment fixed this. The engaging mids and highs also made deep focus at work harder than on the bass-heavier rivals.

Nothing raises $456M to challenge Apple iPhone dominance

Nothing, a London-based consumer tech startup founded in 2020, has raised $456 million in venture funding and achieved a $1.3 billion valuation. The company manufactures smartphones, smartwatches, and earbuds designed to compete with Apple and Samsung at lower price points. Nothing's 4a Pro phone retails for $599, undercutting the comparable iPhone 17 at $799. The company reached $1 billion in lifetime sales in 2024 and has gained significant traction on social media, with Google searches for its products up 500% over five years. The startup's success comes as venture capital funding for consumer tech has declined sharply. Consumer tech VC deals fell by half from their 2021 peak of 3,000 transactions, with investors increasingly favouring AI investments instead. Nothing's distinctive feature includes a rear display for notifications, aimed at reducing screen time whilst users keep phones face down.

Nothing cuts over 100 jobs in restructuring push despite Phone (4b) sales success

Nothing, the UK tech company co-founded by Carl Pei, is restructuring its operations following the launch of its Nothing Phone (4b). Over 100 of the company's 800 employees globally could be affected by cuts, with around 25 positions at risk in the UK global marketing team, according to CityAM. Co-founder Akis Evangelidis denied reports that Nothing was exiting 12 markets, calling them "fake news". He confirmed the company is reorganising teams and introducing dedicated business units, including an AI-native division, whilst consolidating individual countries into regional hubs. The Phone (4b) sold 29,537 units on its first day, breaking records in its price segment. Evangelidis described the restructuring as a necessary step to position the company for its next phase of growth in personal computing.

Nothing's chief brand officer vibe-codes personal apps to reshape his workday

Charlie Smith, chief brand officer of consumer-tech company Nothing, believes fears about AI replacing jobs are overblown. Drawing parallels to previous technological shifts, he argues AI will create new opportunities rather than eliminate work. Smith has embraced "vibe-coding" since joining Nothing in January, building personal apps that organise his workday, manage travel and streamline communication. He has largely stopped typing, relying instead on Nothing's "Essential Voice" dictation tool, which removes filler words from spoken thoughts. Nothing deliberately avoids heavy AI branding, calling its products "essential" to emphasise utility over futuristic messaging. Smith believes AI scepticism stems from executives overstating artificial general intelligence to inflate valuations. He views AI primarily as a productivity tool for automating administrative tasks, freeing workers for creative problem-solving.
