Requirements
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates must have a valid driver's license.
  • Candidates must be able to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
  • Candidates must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering language, traditions, and values.
  • Candidates must successfully participate in and complete a three-part Nonviolent Crisis Intervention exam and training.
  • Candidates must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of clients.
  • Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Candidates must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of two to four hours.
  • Candidates must be able to twist, bend, and stretch as required for daily activities within a residential treatment facility.
Responsibilities
  • Support and reinforce clients' therapeutic plans by providing guidance and direction to residents in daily living activities.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision of residents' daily activities and behavior according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Work with coworkers to implement treatment plans and therapeutic services.
  • Remain cognizant of each client's phases, privileges, and restrictions and adapt interactions accordingly.
  • Ensure resident safety and collaborate with coworkers to maintain a positive, respectful, clean, and therapeutic environment.
  • Work effectively with clients' families and support networks to reinforce positive family partnerships and follow established family engagement protocols.
  • Plan and participate in off-campus resident activities and assist with transporting clients to home visits, doctor appointments, and planned recreational activities.

Nexus Family Healing is a nonprofit provider of mental health and family support for children, young people, and caregivers. Its continuum includes foster care, outpatient and community mental health services, residential treatment, and family stabilization. Programs operate across communities in Minnesota, North Dakota, Illinois, and Maryland. The care model addresses behavioral health, trauma, family stability, and placement needs across residential and community settings, positioning Nexus within nonprofit child and family services rather than as a standalone residential-care operator.
