Apple to report Q4 earnings Monday, with $113.46B revenue expected and iPhone 18 in focus

Apple will report fourth quarter earnings after the bell on Monday, giving investors a first look at iPhone 18 Pro sales. It will be the first earnings call under new chief executive officer John Ternus, who replaced Tim Cook on September 1. Analysts surveyed by Bloomberg expect earnings per share of $2 on revenue of $113.46 billion, up from $1.85 and $102.46 billion a year earlier. iPhone sales are projected at $56.48 billion, up 15%. Services should top $31.58 billion. The iPhone Duo went on sale October 23, after the quarter closed. Apple shares are up roughly 30% over 12 months, outpacing most big tech peers. Earlier this month, its market capitalisation passed $5 trillion for the second time.

Apple's $2,000 foldable iPhone Duo could add $12B–$20B in sales as demand soars

Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, has drawn strong early demand since its September launch alongside the iPhone 18. Pre-orders reportedly sold out quickly. Some estimates put shipments through the end of 2026 at between six million and 10 million units. At a starting price of about $2,000, that implies $12 billion to $20 billion in sales. The low end equals 22% of iPhone revenue in Apple's latest quarter. Some sales will cannibalise other models. If every base Duo replaced an iPhone 18 Pro, which starts at roughly $1,200, Apple would still add about $4.8 billion. Foldables make up only 2% of the smartphone market, leaving room to grow. Apple faces supply constraints and rare reports of cracked screens.

Apple is up 27% in 2026, but history suggests its valuation is stretched

Apple shares are up about 27% in 2026, easily beating the market, even without a big push in artificial intelligence (AI). Motley Fool writer Keithen Drury argues the stock is now too expensive to buy. Revenue growth has topped 10% year over year after years of single-digit or negative growth. But a smartphone upgrade cycle is driving sales, and Apple could struggle once it ends. Twice in the past decade, Apple stock passed 40 times earnings, and each time it fell 25% to 30 times earnings or lower. Drury expects that pattern to repeat in 2027. Analysts project 10% revenue growth in 2027, in line with the S&P 500's average pace. The index trades at 23.2 times earnings.

Apple at 10% yearly growth: $1,000 could become $1,522 by October 2030

Apple shares traded at $345.35 at noon, up 32% over the past year. A 24/7 Wall St. model projects the stock could reach $523.62 by October 21, 2030, turning a $1,000 investment into about $1,522.20, a 52.22% return. Strict 10% annual growth would yield $1,464.10 over four years. The model's five-year target of $551.91 by October 2031 implies 9.92% a year. The June quarter supports the case. iPhone revenue rose 22% to $54.3 billion, and Services grew 12% to $30.7 billion. Apple also authorised an additional $100 billion buyback. Risks include rising memory costs, chip supply limits, and a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 38. The average analyst target is $328.35, below the current price.

Apple acquires agentic AI startup Ascend.io in acquihire, EU filing reveals

Apple has agreed to acquire Ascend.io, a company that builds agentic data engineering technology. The deal appeared on the EU's "List of Acquisitions" website, which Apple must update under the Digital Markets Act when it buys companies above a certain size. The filing names Ascension Labs, Inc., the firm behind Ascend.io. Apple will have the right to make employment offers to certain employees, a typical acquihire. It also gets a non-exclusive licence to Ascend's intellectual property rights and may be assigned certain patents. Founded in 2015, Ascend.io calls itself "the first Agentic Data Engineering platform," using AI agents to handle data engineering tasks. Earlier this month, Apple also struck a deal with an AI startup that lets musicians rework recorded music.
