Requirements
  • Yoga certification.
  • Two or more years of experience teaching or practicing in a specialized area, along with certification.
  • Ability to lead a class or provide individual service.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Ability to motivate and educate members.
  • Ability to set up, move, and store equipment.
  • All employees and volunteers must adhere to abuse prevention policies, maintain appropriate boundaries, complete required training, report suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and comply with mandated reporting requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and instruct Yoga classes or programs, and observe and discuss individual progress with participants.
  • Develop positive relationships with participants and facilitate relationship building among participants and members; provide motivational support and guidance.
  • Increase participant awareness of healthy lifestyle factors.
  • Encourage member and parent involvement and identify potential volunteers.
  • Attend required staff meetings and approved trainings.
  • Set up and take down class equipment, and report equipment problems.
  • Ensure safe and effective classes and respond to and report accidents and incidents.
  • Track, monitor, evaluate, and transition assigned Total Health participants while providing motivational support and counseling.
  • Accurately maintain related records.
  • Lead ongoing YMCA Total Health classes or programs in a specialized area.
Desired Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Current state-approved first aid certification, to be completed within 30 days of employment or at the first available training.
  • Current state-approved CPR certification, to be completed within 30 days of employment or at the first available training.
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations, including differences in language, culture, race, physical ability, and sexual orientation.
  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
  • Total Service/Total Health Training, to be completed within 90 days of employment or at the first available training.
