Requirements
  • 15+ years of experience as a carpenter or finish carpenter, preferably in residential construction.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to motivate others to perform work at their highest and best.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, Bluebeam, FieldWire, Procore, and Smartsheet.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Completion of appropriate safety training commensurate with the position and location.
  • Ability to follow instructions, take notes, and perform designated work.
  • Ability to listen actively, ask for help, and suggest solutions.
  • Technical knowledge of building methods and construction practices.
  • Ability to manage stress and maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Master Finish Carpenter competencies, including tight trim work; crown molding installation with coped or mitered joinery; base coping; paneling fabrication and installation; dimensioning lumber to exact sizes; stair work involving handrails and skirt boards; math skills for angles and pitches; hanging and customizing doors; mortising and installing door hardware; glue-up joinery; sharpening chisels and plane blades; and efficient cabinet installation with tight scribed joints.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure promised deadlines are met, identify slipping deadlines early, and communicate new deadlines to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Lead the finish crew and conduct quarterly Field Check-Ins for performance feedback, mentoring, and career development.
  • Conduct site walk-throughs to help subcontractors prepare proposals and site-specific safety plans.
  • Enforce workplace rules, site rules, standards, and safety guidelines, including implementing disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Project Team to establish finish scope estimates and co-manage labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
  • Manage and conduct building layout and dimensional control using builder's levels, rotary laser levels, total stations, and related equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to establish and maintain manpower projections and report resource changes to the labor management team.
  • Plan, communicate, and maintain daily and weekly work scopes and finish expectations with the crew.
  • Provide information for Daily Job Logs verbally, in writing, or through Fieldwire or the approved company platform.
  • Ensure employees have required tools and equipment according to company policy, project requirements, and job descriptions.
  • Provide accurate and complete field-generated information, including as-built drawings, photographs, and architectural measurements, through Fieldwire, ShareFile, and other official platforms.
  • Document as-built information regularly.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and maintain finish-work protection.
  • Meet with reporting staff for Employee Development Meetings and written Field Check-Ins as needed and at project completion.
  • Maintain neighbor relations with the Superintendent.
  • Advocate for safety and reinforce awareness to reduce injury risk.
  • Demonstrate and support diversity, equity, and inclusion onsite.
