Co–Star is looking for a Junior Operations Associate to take care of our users and our SoHo office.

You’ll be the person behind the scenes making sure things work as they should. You’ll answer questions from the millions of people who use Co–Star, identify problems before they become patterns, and help translate what we hear from users back to the team. You’ll also keep our office stocked, organized, and running beautifully, and help bring Co–Star events to life.

This is a junior role for someone with good taste, excellent instincts, and a habit of noticing what needs to happen before anyone asks.

What you’ll do

Manage customer support through Zendesk, helping users with accounts, purchases, natal charts, and more.
Improve macros and automated responses so support feels efficient without feeling impersonal.
Identify recurring issues, escalate edge cases, and share useful patterns with the product team.
Use AI tools and Claude Code regularly to automate repetitive work, analyze support data, and make our customer experience workflows more efficient.
Support Co–Star events and daily office operations, from coordinating with vendors and creating a welcoming office environment to managing office equipment and ordering daily lunch.
Notice what needs to be done, take ownership, and follow it through without waiting to be asked for a wide variety of tasks.

You might be a fit if

You write clearly, warmly, and like a person.
You’re observant, organized, and unusually good at following through: you naturally anticipate what people will need and take care of it.
You have strong judgment and know when to solve something yourself and when to escalate it.
You already use AI tools in your work and are excited to use Claude Code, even if you don’t consider yourself a programmer.
You have experience in customer support, hospitality, events, retail, or office operations.

Logistics

Full-time in New York City. You’ll work from our SoHo office daily.
Compensation: $65,000-83,000, plus benefits.

About the company

Co-Star is a mobile app that delivers highly personalized daily horoscopes by building a full natal chart from a user’s exact birth data and combining NASA planetary positions with insights from human astrologers, processed through a proprietary AI engine. It updates daily with readings, offers personality analysis, and lets users connect with friends to compare compatibility, making astrology a social experience. In 2023 it launched The Void, an in-app feature that provides AI-generated answers to user questions based on their chart. The app uses a freemium model, offering premium chart readings and extended Q&A options, aimed at reducing loneliness by fostering daily reflection and connection through digital wellness and social networking around astrology.

Midjourney acquired the astrology app Co-Star.

Midjourney acquired the astrology app Co-Star. Midjourney, an AI lab best known for its LLM-powered image and video generators, has acquired the social astrology app Co-Star, according to Bloomberg. The deal terms were not disclosed. Co-Star, which reportedly has about 4.3 million monthly active users, is mostly used to help people determine their astrological birth charts, which they can then share with other friends on the app. Co-Star uses both AI and humans to write horoscopes, compatibility assessments, and other advice based on a user's astrological information. Midjourney seems to be casting a wide net when it comes its product lineup. The company seems almost synonymous with the Discord server where users can generate text and images - there is no stand-alone Midjourney app - yet the AI lab is also trying to build a medical arm and spa. Why not throw an astrology app in the mix? Co-Star's team of two dozen employees has joined Midjourney as part of the acquisition. Given the team's experience in building consumer apps, Midjourney could perhaps finally get its own stand-alone app. October 13 - 15 San Francisco Scale faster. Grow your portfolio. AI startup Midjourney acquires astrology app Co-Star, plans first standalone image app

Midjourney has acquired astrology app Co-Star and is developing its first standalone image-generation application. The artificial intelligence startup's moves represent its latest push into new business areas following an announcement last month about ambitious expansion plans. The acquisition of the popular astrology app marks a significant diversification for Midjourney, which has primarily focused on AI-powered image generation. Details about the acquisition terms were not disclosed. The company is simultaneously working on its own image-generation app, expanding beyond its current offerings. These strategic developments signal Midjourney's broader ambitions to establish presence across multiple consumer-facing product categories.
