About the company

Cresilon makes medical devices that stop bleeding with a plant-based adhesive gel. Its main product, VETIGEL, is a fast-acting gel designed to control bleeding in veterinary patients, and Cresilon serves human trauma and surgical markets as well. The gel is applied to a wound and works to seal and promote clotting within seconds without needing manual pressure. Cresilon differentiates itself by offering a gel-based hemostat and by being among the first to target veterinary applications with a rapid, easy-to-use solution, along with direct sales and partnerships (for example, the VerticalVet Preferred Partnership) to reach clinics and hospitals. The company’s goal is to broaden the gel technology’s uses to improve wound care and save lives across veterinary, human trauma, and surgical settings.

Cresilon launches compact TRAUMAGEL next-gen hemostatic gel for first responders

Brooklyn-based biotechnology company Cresilon has launched a next-generation version of its TRAUMAGEL hemostatic gel, debuting at EMS World Expo 2026 in Orlando, Florida. The new compact syringe format enables one-handed application whilst maintaining the same bleeding control technology as the original product. TRAUMAGEL is a plant-based gel that controls moderate to severe bleeding in seconds, requiring no preparation before use. The redesigned format offers a smaller footprint for tactical, prehospital and hospital settings, whilst the original version remains available. "When a trauma patient is severely bleeding, every second matters," said Joe Landolina, CEO and co-founder of Cresilon. Published clinical evidence documents successful hemorrhage control in complex traumatic injuries, with providers reporting faster application and quicker bleeding control.

By the end of 2025, TRAUMAGEL was in use across all targeted care settings, including law enforcement, fire, EMS, and hospital trauma teams. The product is also being evaluated by the U.S. military and has been fielded by select units. To support this growth, Cresilon expanded its manufacturing footprint to 55,000 square feet at its state-of-the-art biomanufacturing facility in Brooklyn.
