Requirements
  • At least 15 years of experience across strategy, product, and design, including at least 7 years leading teams, with work demonstrating strategy shaped a shipped product and moved a business metric.
  • Executive presence and ability to lead client C-suite conversations and work directly with junior strategists and designers.
  • Experience leading end-to-end professional-services engagements at a consultancy or agency, overseeing multiple accounts, and balancing delivery, utilization, and growth.
  • Experience leading large, distributed teams and leaders across locations and building a practice people want to join and stay in.
  • Ability to perform hands-on strategy and design work, including participating in working sessions.
  • Experience changing how a team works with AI, with demonstrable improvements in speed, quality, and client outcomes.
  • Fluency across business and product strategy, roadmapping, business cases, research, experience and service design, user experience, user interface, and design systems, and strong ability to work alongside engineering.
  • Fluency in product operating models and modern product ways of working, including explaining tradeoffs to executives.
  • Track record shaping offerings, leading pursuits, growing accounts, and understanding how scope, pricing, and staffing affect practice health.
  • Based in Richmond, Nashville, Atlanta, or remote, and willing to travel to clients regularly.
Responsibilities
  • Lead executive conversations that frame the underlying client problem rather than only the requested deliverable.
  • Set client strategy, including where to compete, whom to serve, how to differentiate, and how to measure results.
  • Shape product strategy, including vision, roadmaps, prioritization, and business cases tied to outcomes.
  • Help clients modernize product operating models, ways of working, and collaboration among strategy, product, design, and engineering.
  • Turn ambiguity into a clear, fundable client plan that teams can execute.
  • Oversee strategy and design delivery across a portfolio of accounts and identify where each account needs support.
  • Run discovery and key working sessions, improve strategies and roadmaps, critique and improve designs, and prototype with AI tools when appropriate.
  • Own the quality of strategy and design work across the practice and intervene to get drifting engagements back on track.
  • Partner with engineering and account leads to keep strategy, design, and build connected, and track whether shipped work delivers promised value.
  • Lead and develop a large, distributed team of strategists, product leaders, researchers, and designers.
  • Hire, coach, and promote team members; provide direct feedback and model strong work at each level.
  • Staff engagements effectively and monitor utilization and delivery key performance indicators to anticipate demand.
  • Set how the team uses AI across research, strategy, concepting, prototyping, and design systems while maintaining original, differentiated work.
  • Craft and evolve strategy, product, and design offerings, including what is sold, how it is scoped and priced, and the evidence supporting it.
  • Lead or shape pursuits involving strategy and design, including points of view, proposals, estimates, and pitches.
  • Expand accounts by turning strong delivery into long-term client relationships.
  • Build UDig’s reputation in strategy and design through case studies, points of view, and market relationships.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience shaping and shipping AI-powered or agentic products for clients, beyond using AI tools.
  • Experience leading a practice through significant change, such as a merger, a new operating model, or an AI shift, while retaining team engagement.
  • Experience building reusable offerings or methods that other teams sold and delivered.
  • Ability to prototype in code or with AI build tools to test ideas with real users.
  • A public point of view on the future of strategy, product, and design.

UDig, Ferguson launch Sales Cockpit to streamline counter Sales.

UDig, Ferguson launch Sales Cockpit to streamline counter Sales. September 22, 2026 UDig designed and built Sales Cockpit with Ferguson, a value-added distributor of commercial and residential supplies servicing plumbing, HVAC, and other trade professionals. UDig creates digital experiences and frontline tools people want to use. The collaboration brings many of the sales systems Ferguson's counter associates use every day into one interface, cutting down on any back-and-forth between systems when contractors are waiting at the counter. Sales Cockpit is currently in initial deployment at a limited number of Ferguson branches with plans to expand in the months ahead. Contractors run on tight schedules, and every minute at the counter is a minute they're not on a job site. Sales Cockpit is designed to help associates search, quote, and close orders without switching screens so they can get contractors back on the road faster. The platform also brings Ferguson's modernized payment technology into the counter workflow. "Contractors don't have time to spare, and the associates helping them don't either," said Gordon Kelly, executive vice oresident at UDig. "We started by getting clear on what makes Ferguson different at the counter, then built alongside associates in their branches to drive adoption. We leveraged AI-native delivery to shorten cycle times and build quickly. The result is that associates can stay focused on the person in front of them, with the systems behind the counter working quietly in the background." "Sales Cockpit brings the systems our associates use every day into one cohesive, intuitive interface, built around the workflows and flexibility our associates already know," said Jeff Walbert, senior vice president of operations at Ferguson. "Working with UDig, we moved quickly without losing that focus. I'm looking forward to seeing how these improvements help our teams serve customers with greater speed and build on the strong relationships that define Ferguson." UDig will share more about Sales Cockpit and its work with Ferguson to support trade professionals at the Industrial Supply Association Fall Summit, Oct. 27 in San Antonio, Texas.
