14 hrs work and no week off: Hyderabad Genpact staff allege gender discrimination, workplace harassment. Published on: 8 Oct 2026 6:29 AM Hyderabad: A group of employees at global professional services firm Genpact have alleged gender discrimination, workplace harassment and excessive work pressure by a senior manager. They claimed that complaints raised through the company's internal Human Resources (HR) mechanisms have not resulted in any action even after several weeks. What are the allegations? According to employees who have shared their concerns on social media and internal forums, multiple complaints were submitted against a manager. The complainants allege that the issues raised include gender-based discrimination, disregard for women's menstrual health concerns, demands for extended working hours and threats related to performance and employment. Employees claim that the concerns were discussed on the company's official HR forum and that several team members who reportedly experienced similar issues supported the complaints. They allege that despite the matter being raised more than three weeks ago, no disciplinary action has been initiated against the manager. 'Not just policy violations' Some employees have described the situation as a violation of workplace ethics and company compliance standards. They argue that the allegations go beyond policy violations and raise broader concerns about employee welfare, gender sensitivity and workplace dignity. The controversy comes amid wider discussions in the corporate sector regarding work-life balance, employee monitoring, and workplace culture. In recent years, concerns over long working hours and managerial pressure in the technology and business process outsourcing sectors have sparked debates about employee well-being and organisational accountability. 'Company protecting certain person' Employees questioning the company's response have alleged that management is being overly protective of certain leaders and failing to address complaints in a transparent manner. They are seeking an independent investigation into the allegations and greater accountability from the company's leadership and HR teams. As of now, Genpact has not publicly commented on the specific allegations involving the manager. The company has previously stated that it is committed to maintaining professional workplace standards and employee welfare. The allegations remain unverified, and no findings from an internal inquiry, if any, have been made public. The matter is likely to attract further attention if employees continue to pursue formal grievances or seek intervention from labour and workplace authorities. This report is based on allegations made by employees. The claims have not been independently verified, and the manager named in the complaints has not publicly responded to the allegations.
UP IT-ITeS exports cross Rs 1 lakh crore, double in five years. Alok Kumar, principal secretary IT and electronics department UP Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh 's IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) exports have crossed Rs 1 lakh crore for the first time, more than doubling over the past five years, according to figures released on Wednesday by the state's IT and Electronics Department. Principal Secretary Alok Kumar said IT-ITeS exports from UP stood at Rs 1,01,970 crore in 2025-26, up from Rs 48,004 crore in 2020-21. Officials said the milestone comes as the state works to broaden its technology base beyond established IT centres and generate more opportunities for its skilled workforce. The export numbers were compiled from units registered with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and from special economic zone (SEZ) units operating in the state. Exports from STPI units increased from Rs 25,642 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 52,778 crore in 2025-26, a rise of Rs 27,136 crore. The STPI segment logged a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.5% during the period. SEZ-based IT-ITeS exports grew from Rs 22,362 crore to Rs 49,192 crore, marking an increase of Rs 26,830 crore. At 17.1%, the SEZ segment recorded a higher CAGR than STPI units. Officials said the sustained rise in both channels indicates a gradual widening of the state's technology ecosystem beyond traditional hubs, with govt aiming to attract more technology companies and strengthen UP's position as an IT and ITeS destination. The sector's expansion is also visible in Lucknow, where companies such as IBM, Genpact and Teleperformance have established offices, contributing to the city's emerging IT ecosystem. "The expansion of the IT-ITeS sector was expected to support further investment and create employment opportunities, particularly for technical and IT professionals in the state," Kumar said.
