Requirements
  • Previous data entry or typing experience with knowledge of basic office equipment is required.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills are required.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and direct them to appropriate areas.
  • Interview patients or family members to obtain complete and accurate demographic and insurance information for distribution to appropriate hospital departments.
  • Document daily in the logbook the disposition of all patients, including admissions, discharges, and other occurrences, according to policy.
  • File charts for Health Information Management and Information Systems in alphabetical order while maintaining a neat and orderly work area.
  • Process patient placement using bed availability, special requests, and criteria for specialty areas.
  • Answer phones, record messages, and perform related duties as directed.
