Requirements
  • A High School Degree/GED plus one year of related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Knowledge of basic retail practices and campus store sales procedures.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions, read or copy information correctly, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to handle money responsibly and process cash receipts.
  • Familiarity with inventory processes and the ability to record campus store transactions.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques and safe use of equipment.
  • Ability to adjust working hours to include evenings and weekends.
  • Customer service, communication, verbal, written, negotiating, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including a computer, calculator, and point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism; organize and prioritize work; and work effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Successful completion of a background check, including a motor vehicle records report.
  • Adherence to Colorado Mountain College safety and compliance policies.
Responsibilities
  • Support textbook distribution and returns through the CMC Learning Materials Program and answer questions during distribution and return periods.
  • Assist customers with purchases and distribute textbooks.
  • Receive and remove textbooks and other merchandise from shipping cartons, return merchandise as required, and maintain daily records of items received and returned.
  • Sell merchandise and collect, process, or disburse cash, checks, and credit card charges as assigned.
  • Prepare merchandise displays, relocate stock when needed, price merchandise, and shelve merchandise.
  • Maintain campus store stock inventory control records and provide lists of low-stock items for reorder and items needing elimination.
  • Respond to or direct telephone and walk-in inquiries and provide information about stock availability and campus store activities.
  • Duplicate materials and assist with routine clerical duties, including processing incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Assist with physical inventories, preparation of booklists, and periodic buyback of used textbooks from students.
  • Perform routine closing procedures, including counting the cash drawer and shutting down the computer system and cash registers.
  • Open or close the campus store according to detailed procedures.
  • Perform assigned duties according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Clean retail fixtures periodically to maintain the professional appearance of the campus store.
  • Maintain good working relationships with students, faculty, and the general public.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
