  • Strong knowledge of aviation Quality Management Systems, Safety Management Systems, and foreign object debris programs, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing execution systems and quality management systems used in manufacturing environments.
  • Training from a vocational school or previous employer in composite lay-ups and fabrication.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to hear production-floor sounds, including safety warnings and alarms.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, electronic access equipment, hydraulic lifts, and other production tools.
  • Ability to carry and lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment weighing up to 30 pounds (14 kilograms).
  • Ability to squat or kneel for inspections, stand for extended periods, walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces, and work safely on elevated platforms up to 40 feet high.
  • Required personal protective equipment includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators or masks, protective gloves, bump caps, and safety-toed shoes as required.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor adherence to manufacturing and quality processes to ensure compliance with aviation quality and regulatory standards.
  • Inspect in-process and completed products, including electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies, mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds, using prescribed methods and specifications.
  • Use measuring devices, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, and fixtures to perform inspections.
  • Accept, reject, or rework defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Work from blueprints, diagrams, customer specifications, drawings, inspection instructions, checklists, CATIA documents, process specifications, quality-control requirements, software programs, and test procedures.
  • Monitor and verify quality using statistical processes or other control procedures.
  • Perform line clearances after each lot to ensure materials from the previous lot have been removed.
  • Perform dimensional inspections of parts and assemblies.
  • Initiate and document nonconforming materials, hardware, parts, assemblies, or portions thereof according to specifications, processes, and procedures.
  • Inspect vendor, subcontractor, and company parts and assemblies.
  • Prepare and maintain quality records.
  • Support continuous product flow by cross-training and assisting other employees, including cross-training in supported Assembly Technician functions.
  • Travel up to 5% to domestic or international customers or suppliers and travel independently at short notice once or twice a year.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Five years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering or methods, or a similar role within the aviation industry.
  • Certifications in aircraft maintenance, aviation safety, or regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with aerospace-specific tools such as SAP and manufacturing execution systems.
  • An Associate's degree in Aviation, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Quality Assurance, or a related field.

Airbus A350F freighter completes maiden flight with 4.3m cargo door for servers

Airbus has successfully completed the first flight of its A350F freighter, bringing the aerospace giant closer to delivering a high-capacity cargo aircraft. The plane took off from Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, flying for four hours and ten minutes and reaching 25,000 feet. The A350F can carry a payload of 109 tonnes, compared to 64 tonnes for the existing A330F. It features a 4.3-metre cargo door large enough to accommodate turbofan engines and high-density computer servers. Airbus claims the A350F is more efficient than Boeing's rival 777F, despite having slightly less capacity. The company has already received orders for 115 A350Fs. A second test aircraft is nearly complete as Airbus begins the certification process requiring hundreds of test flights.

Airbus and Qantas back $30M funding for Australian SAF developer Jet Zero

Jet Zero Australia has raised $30 million to advance Project Ulysses, a commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel refinery in Townsville. The funding round was backed by institutional investors including Qantas and Airbus, both returning investors from 2023. South Korean company Posco International joined as a new strategic investor, with the parties exploring opportunities in fuel offtake, infrastructure and feedstock. The capital will fund completion of Front-End Engineering Design and support the project's progress towards Final Investment Decision and construction. Founded in 2021 by Ed Mason, Jet Zero develops biofuels production capacity in regional Australia. The project has received its final Development Permit Decision Notice from Queensland's Office of the Coordinator-General. It is expected to create approximately 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent operational roles.

Airbus shelves stricter office return plan after Spanish union strikes

Airbus has postponed its plan to reduce remote working after strikes by Spanish unions, Reuters reports. The aerospace manufacturer will allow employees to continue working from home an average of two days per week, shelving indefinitely a push to limit remote work to one day. Chief Executive Guillaume Faury had sought to require white-collar staff on-site four days weekly by September, citing the need for knowledge transfer. Spanish unions said roughly 40% of Airbus's 14,000 Spanish employees have walked out over remote work policies, transport, leave and wages. An Airbus spokesperson said the company would implement the transition "more gradually" based on employee feedback. French unions estimate a quarter to a third of Airbus's workforce has been hired in the past three years. Aircraft production has not been affected by the disruptions.
